I have a 2010 Z71 Nav radio w/BT Bose system that I racked up 250K miles and going to unload it after winter is over.
I recently purchased a 2008 Z71 for my new daily driver with 90K miles having identical options as my 2010 with the exception of Bluetooth as GM did not offer BT until 09.

Is it worth swapping the head units to get the BT function or is this more trouble than it is worth?
It is my understanding that the dealer needs to recode the VIN for both vehicles afterward.

If this is more trouble than it is worth, is there a good BT module that I can install behind the head unit in my 08?
The few aftermarket systems I read about online had many complaints especially with the audio sounding garbled on vehicles with the Bose system.

Bluetooth is in the onstar system, so you really cant just swap head units. You may check crutchfield for an adapter for the 08...

Thanks for the reply, I will look to see what I can find as an earlier search only turned up many complaints about garbled audio quality with these adapters when interfaced with the Bose system. I was hoping someone here could point me in the direction of an adapter that had good audio quality with the Bose system.

Never saw this post so I couldn’t post up a solution to your question.

@Mack201 The OnStar module is what the BT (for phone calls) is located inside of. You can purchase a pre loved o/s module off eBay from an 09-14 truck and slap it in place of the 08 module and … Voilà instant BT just like the ‘10

I use the crux module which uses the xm button but that is on a 2013 Crutchfield will tell you if it fits on yours, pretty sure it should
