After 2010 GM removed the ability to add new keys and program the remotes via the dash controls. You might think that sucks but you did get redesigned door mech, double layer glass in the D/P side windows just like the windshield and a steering wheel lock.

There’s a product call AutoSync worth it’s weight in gold that’ll allow you to do the programming from in the truck. All the other features are bomb digidy.

I'm guessing that AutoSync needs to stay in the OBDII port?

2013 Tahoe LTZ Key FOB Info:
I recently watched a YouTube video where you can program a newly purchased FOB using the buttons on the dash. Step thru your dash buttons to see if the dash LED readout provides the programing function. Apparently, some older Tahoe's allow you to program the FOB this way, others do not. My 2013 did not.
I ordered a new FOD from Amazon (Brand name: Dorman 99156 Keyless Entry Remote 6 Button). Comes with the programming device that plugs into the OB2 outlet under the dash. Cost $63. Looks simple. It will be delivered tomorrow. I'll let you know.

UPDATE:
I received the Dorman 99156 Keyless Entry Remote 6 Button (FOB replacement kit) I ordered from Amazon. It included a new FOB and the FOB programming device that plugs into the OB2 outlet. It was very easy to program the FOB and the FOB works perfectly.
One Note-I bought this so that I would have an extra FOB, so if you have existing FOB(s), you must re-program all of them them at the same time and using the same method as you programmed the new FOB.

That’s cool. I was expecting just one. Can’t wait for someone to hack it to unlimited and continually resell it to the next guy.

I know this is an older thread, but I wonder if this is a good option for key fob programming.

Edit: Nevermind I remembered I have a buddy at a local GMC dealership. I went over there at lunch and he programmed the key fobs I ordered for me. He said $20 but I gave him $50. It only took him a few minutes to get two of them programmed.
