I know there are a thousand opinions out there on exhaust upgrades. My last 05 Yukon I put a 50 series flowmaster. A great sound with just the right rumble. However, trucking down the freeway, the cab noise was a little much. My new rig, 03 Tahoe, I want to do something similar, but maybe something a little more mellow. Thoughts?

Yep, I had the 50 series flowmaster on my Tahoe for years. It was great until I got older and I wanted something a little quieter in the cabin. I replaced it with the 70 series. Still good sound and rumble on the outside but so much quieter in the inside. Now I can have a normal conversations with my wife and back seat riders.

I can advise you NOT to purchase a Gibson Extreme exhaust system, as it is definitely too loud for you, based upon your description. I love this exhaust system, but I also know that I'm in a minority on this.

My Black Widow Venom 250 is a tad loud, but no drone. Was thinking trying their larger size next.

I can second MBRP. Mine sounds wonderful, outside -- I've gotten compliments from the least expected places -- and does not drone in cab (I've driven long distances in my truck -- 1200+ miles, for example).

I just replaced mine with a 3" non-resonated, cat- back w/ Magnaflow 14" muffler . Its perfect!! loud enough when you want, but quiet cruising at 75. i'm really happy with it. Not as brappy as the flow master 40. (buddy has that on his 08 Hoe) My opinion

For best chance of no drone, I always suggest a packed, straight-through muffler instead of a baffled and/or chambered muffler. If you're not afraid of a little volume, a 14" body would do. Something like this: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/imm-sa1229 or this if you have Prime: https://www.amazon.com/AP-Exhaust-Products-XS1229-Muffler/dp/B004A5OBOW

Perfect… and thank you. Exactly what I was looking for. I was wondering about the 70 series. Turning 49 this year so comfort is taking over vs. cool!
