Right, so you are 100% perfect at all times and make no mistakes? Get off your high horse. A mistake was made and they’re trying to find another one for you. What more could they possibly do at this point?

Very similar thing happened to a friend. He thought he made the deal to buy this 4wd Silverado on Friday pm to pickup oon Monday. When he showed up Monday with the cash, truck was gone. Sold to someone else. The salesman claimed he did not formally tell them he would buy the truck and since no deposit, the truck was available for sale and someone purchased it on Saturday. Verbal miscommunication. They only had one other cc but was wrong color (white) so Brian walked away and bought from another dealer.

If you have the patience, prices are coming down as lots fill up again. I see full lots all over where I live. I figure by first to mid spring, the ball will be in the buyers court or closer to it anyway.
Not here in Wisconsin. The big Chevy/Caddy dealer near me has maybe 15 vehicles on the lot.....

Dealers are only in the game to make money. Putting a deposit on an in stock vehicle should secure it for a limited time, ie: a few days AT MOST..

Its not just car dealers that suck...Pretty much all dealers suck nowadays but on the flip side...

Buyers a better strategy is to say nothing, have your shit together before you walk into the stealership and go home with the vehicle you want right then. If you dont get exactly what you want, for the price you want..LEAVE and go find it somewhere else. If you order a new vehicle (place deposit etc) and the dealer sells it to someone else..contact your attorney.

Its the same in real estate or any other large purchase thats saleable.

I recently have had experiences with a house sale and a boat buy. RE Agents, home buyers and also a shady ski boat dealer blow all kinds of sunshine up my butt and NEVER come through. A frustrating and totally stupid way to do business.

MOST dealers are not out to screw customers like people on the internet think. When you go in someone excepting a problem, a problem you will find.

As much as I would like to say otherwise, thats not been my experience. Especially of late as I alluded above.

It was like that here a few weeks ago, but all of them were already purchased and waiting pickup. The market isn't changing anytime soon for fullsize SUVs.

The way the dealers look at it, is that they have been told many times that someone is coming right away and they hold a rig and then that someone never shows. Then they make a business decision and sell it to a first come first serve customer. I recently found a nice enough Suburban I was looking for and told them I would be back on a Monday to buy it. This was on a Friday. They asked for a deposit. I said no and would take my chances. They sold it on Saturday and were nice enough to call and tell me that. All good. If I want something bad enough, I better carry at least $5k in my pocket when I go to a dealer.
