Long story [not so] short my original vapor canister blew out on my tahoe about 2 years ago and threw carbon throughout the EVAP system.
I went ahead and replaced all EVAP lines, the fuel pump (preventative), purge valve, purge canister, and vapor canister and all was good for about 6 months ... then I got yet another "tighten fuel cap" message on the dash.
I popped off the line to the purge solenoid and it was full of carbon again. I dropped the canister and it was shot just like the original one. I replaced it again and everything was fine until earlier this week. I drove out of town and back (~ 5 hours) and went to fill up when I got back into town. I was at ~ 1/4 tank (my absolute lowest I'm ever willing to go) and the fuel nozzle was filling at an exceedingly slow pace, like a gallon every 2 minutes. I got 12 gallons into the tank and stopped it, figuring it was just a crap gas station filler nozzle. I went to the gas station next door and the filler nozzle shut off immediately on me. The gauge on the dash was reading at ~ 7/8 fill at that point. I drove it around town for the last 2 days and went to try and fill up, as I was at ~ 2/3 tank, and I am still dealing with the same problem.
I just took off the canister and it is FULL of fuel. I don't top off when filling so I'm lost as to why this is happening.
I have no codes, and I know this EVAP system is terrible but now having to replace a third canister is beyond frustrating. Am I missing something here that is causing the fuel to push through to the canister?? I park in a garage while at home and on rare occasion park on a slope at work (nose up; MAYBE 10 degrees at most). Is this a plausible cause for what I'm seeing?

I hate that I'm posting yet another "why can't I fill up?" thread but now I'm second guessing myself lol

The typical cause of fuel in the canister is overfilling the fuel tank. When I am filling mine and I can hear that it's near full, I slow down the pump speed and stop fueling at the first click.

Is the vent valve (near the spare tire) working properly? I don't see it mentioned unless you're calling it something else.

Thanks for the reply. I called it the purge canister; I've seen it named a number of things lol
I don't have any codes stored but can test it later. It was also replaced at the same time as the previous canister.

It's likely okay and is likely not the cause, but warrants a test. Toggle it on and off while applying 12v DC, while trying to blow through it. I had one that didn't close all the time; they can be intermittent.

Who is the manufacturer of the replacement parts? It is highly likely one of the new parts has failed. You might also have an issue where *something* is allowing gasoline to slosh where it doesn't belong. Maybe look at your fuel filler neck (shot in the dark, there).

All parts replaced during the fuel pump job were GM, ordered through RA. When the new GM canister threw pellets, I replaced it with another GM canister.
I'll test the vent valve this evening and poke around the filler neck area if the vent valve tests fine.
Thanks again for the input!
