Unplugged back of 12v plug and smashed pieces from behind drilled out metal casing in the back fed wire through and switch housing fits perfectly inside the metal 12v cigarette plug. After spending 35min I was going to cut the damn thing because I wasn’t about to remove both fuse boxes to find the fuse, was able to unplug it instead. After watching videos of you remove the metal piece it holds the cover on the outside so left it in place and just used it as a placeholder for the switch. Hope that makes sense ?
Why not just mount the switch in the flat face next to the cigarette lighter?

How did you bring the wiring from the lights to the switch?

I did not want to drill any holes, through the passenger wheel panel, I have hot leads from battery going to a digital usb hub and the switch wire from the lights. Plenty of room. The only easily accessible port is on the floor board of the drivers side. Which wouldn’t work for me in fact won’t work at all since I have a street style SUV and don’t want wires under the carriage

I routed power for my ham radio through a plug in the passenger floor. I’m not sure I want to do ditch lights yet, but I am gathering information and the hard to find brackets.

I apologize for commenting on an old post, but would you be willing to share how you removed this section? I can’t find instructions anywhere. Thanks in advance!
It just snaps in. I found a youtube a while ago the shows it. You basically pull upward starting at the end away from the dash. Putting it back in is much easier if you remove the kick plate below the dash.
