No regen?

So I've passed 1000 miles now without a regen, am I just not noticing it or do these vehicles not give notification of a regen? My previous vehicle was a 2008 F250 diesel and it regened constantly, have they just made the newer DPF systems that much better?

There is no notification. You can get a cheap wireless OBD dongle and an app on your phone to monitor DPF and regen status, but being that its a brand new truck, it will take a while for the DPF to fill up enough for its first regen.

Some people have commented that they notice a slight odor when it's doing a regen. Also, the only time you'll get a notification is if it's tried to regen several times and not been able to reduce the soot load. You'll then get a notification that says "Cleaning exhaust filter - continue to drive." You'll likely only see this if you do several short trips in a row.

It will do its own thing mostly unnoticed. Thats one of the joys of owning it. Don't worry about it and just drive it. This ain't like your HD Diesel....

First regen happened at ~450 miles for me. Happened to pull into a parking lot while it was ongoing (or just finished) and noticed a slight smell. Haven’t smelled it since, 5000 miles later.

I don't notice the smell so much as the tone of the exhaust changes, it gets deeper. Kind of sounds like an aquarium pump if you put your finger over the output.

But yah, no notification that a regen is occurring.

There is no dashboard note when in Regen. It will smell like a burning candle and a throatier sound in the exhaust.
