My From Start to Finish 6.0L Build

Of course I have the part number. I've kept track of everything thing. The Trail Blazer Intake Manifold (which I bought from Amazon) is GM 12580420. When I bought it it was $90 ($89.98). Now it is just over $100 ($104). The packaging was pretty special, It cam in it's own separate case, well protected.

For information purposed, my family thinks I'm a bit to detailed (they have another name for it). When I was a young pup, a long time ago, I started keeping detailed records (now excel spread sheets) on all the vehicles I own. Which includes all maintenance conducted and parts replaced to include gas/gas mileages. At the end each year I have a section that computes MPG and cost per year. I never trade in my vehicles, I usually give them to one of my daughters/husbands along with the records. Two of them are still being driven by them and our still very strong vehicles (2008 Pontiac Vibe (214K) and a 2014 Chevy Cruze (220K)). The other vehicles have been sold/traded in the purchase of their newer vehicles. I still do the maintenance on the Vibe (my daughter is single and is dating a great man but he is not mechanically inclined), so those records are still updated. My other daughter's husband maintains the Cruze but not the records.

I didn't know that manifold was only $100. I was trying to see if there were any differences between it and the stock one on my LMG and now the LC9. So, I guess I have a spare "TBSS" manifold to use or offload. The part numbers on the LC9's manifold are 25383920 (flange) and 25383922 (upper housing). It's probably just an updated number on the exact same part, as GM tends to do. It may even be a number change prompted by them switching part manufacturers. I'll compare it to the one on my LMG when I pull it.

I've learned a long time ago to shop around. I've seen this same intake listed at $200+ on other sites. Summit Racing currently list this at $199.99. Although they do offer a price guarantee, which I have taken advantage of, I chose not to use them for this purchase.

Yesterday I received my custom cam from Vinci Hi-Performance and a message that stated - keep me posted on your build and let me know if you need any tech support. Roger and his company are top-notch. Roger is a wealth of knowledge and willing to share it. Sounds like this forum.

I also started receiving the components for my intake upgrade. Waiting on two more parts (throttle body - Thursday; Purge valve - today).

Still waiting to hear from BBP?????

You might take a look at what LS3 rectangle port heads will do to help boost hp. If you go that route you will also need a circa 2007-14 6.2L truck manifold and higher pressure fuel injectors. Perhaps others have other suggestions for cams that will improve torque. There are also a ton of videos on utube of various cams for these engines.

Just heard from BBP, they are still strongly recommending the 243 heads. Going do some of my own calculations. I have both sets of heads (862 and 243), the problem being the 243 heads are on the engine in my Tahoe right now.

So I have all the parts required for the TBSS upgrade for my engine build. As I was piecing the components together I was not happy with how the C5 corvette filter/regulator would push my fuel lines further back towards and possibly against the firewall. So back to the drawing board/research. A member of this forum ( @Buggdave
) posted the attached picture. Looks like the direction I want to go. So currently researching companies that might be able to build the circled fuel line. Thoughts?

What kind of fittings are on the ends? If they’re GM quick connects you can make your own with AN fittings. I made a fuel line extension for mine.318611C3-75FF-496F-9B16-51C13F22AAA3.jpeg

@Rocket Man Mark, yes, they are gm quick 3/8 fittitings. I've never done that kind of thing before. Any background info would be appreciated.

3/8” line is AN-6 so you need a bit of 3/8” braided line and the proper fittings. Jegs or Summit have pretty decent selections. You’ll need AN-6 to GM 3/8” quick connects for each end and it looks like an AN-6 180* for the left side in that picture. I have a 90* if you want it along with one quick connect, but I’m pretty sure you’d want a 180*. Just look until you find the ones you want. Assembly is super easy- remove the ferrule and slip it over the hose end and slide it down the hose a bit, slip the hose over the barb up to the threads, and screw the ferrule down. You just need to cut the braided line clean and if it’s nylon braided you need to melt the edge so it doesn’t fray otherwise you’ll never get the ferrule over it. I wrap the end with electrical tape before I cut it in the middle of the tape and then hit it with a lighter, then remove the tape. I am no expert though, I’ve only done a few.
