Also there are metal clips that pinch onto two plastic tabs that are part of the dome housing assembly and that snap into the vehicle sheetmetal. I managed to break both of them when removing mine. The assembly cover and lighting buttons come off as one piece which gives a little bit of access to the housing.

I can take a picture of my removed assembly when I get home.

No kidding!! It looked like they literally hammered the back dome light assembly into place on ours. It was off-center, hanging loose and the buttons wouldn't work. I ordered a replacement and when it came in, spent probably 2 hours, and a whole bunch of tools (including a slide hammer) trying to get the old POS out!! My 90-degree needle nose pliers came to the rescue for both removing the thing, and straightening the metal mount on the roof so the new one would clip in.

I NEVER want to do that again!! I'd love to punch the engineer who designed those metal clips that clip in the roof panel in the throat for that cr@ppy design!!
