Okay, my suburban is expected at the dealership (finally) in 2-3 days. How do i find out what the price was when I initially ordered it? I built it online myself, and emailed the link of my build to myself, but that link no longer works. I know for a fact that the msrp that it shows is more than it was when i built it. Someone help!

Yeah, unless you have a copy of the build sheet and you absolutely know that the dealer submitted it as "SRE" Retail Sold (rather than TRE Retail Stock), you may be at the mercy of the dealer. He could claim you have no price protection, which may in fact be true if you don't know how the order was submitted. Or he might just be nice guy and say he will take care of you.

Good luck!

Thank you!!! I 100% forgot about the build sheet. I do have it, and it shows the msrp and says retail sold. So they do have to sell it to me for the price in the build sheet, right?

"have to" sell it to you is a stretch...not trying to be rude, but your results will probably depend on how you approach the dealership/sales guy with it...I'd go ahead and get ahead of it before it gets in...price protection also shouldn't negatively impact the dealership if they know what they are doing.

The policy was changed on July 7 effective to 1/3/2023 to include dealer stock orders according to the linky. Problem is some dealers aren't honoring the policy.

Interesting…I took delivery of a “dealer stock” order on July 7th. I wonder if I could get any cash back from the price increases in June…

Just wonder how this will actually work. So someone comes in and buys a vehicle that the dealer ordered months ago for dealer stock and this customer can request the price that was in place at the time of the original order? Maybe I just don't understand this policy change, especially if the customer didn't previously commit to a particular vehicle.

That's the way I interpret it. Though I imagine once on the lot the vehicle could be sold at sticker or discounted or more than sticker just like when ordering. This is a GM incentive to remain competitive with other car makers and dealerships can do with it as they wish. I have a workbench order for a Corvette and dealership said nope not on the Corvette. My understanding is they can be reimbursed for the difference by GM and keep it if not passing on to the customer as a precondition to the sale.

I had a retail sold order and MSRP went up 2k in the 8 months between ordering and delivery. Even though I had the printed build sheet with original MSRP, dealer did not cave in. Not sure if they were able to pocket the difference but I didn’t want to wait another 6+ months for a custom build over 2k…
