2023 Wagoneer L build and price up

So I noticed that Jeep has updated their build and price site for the 2023 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. You can also price out the "L" long wheelbase model which is the one I'd probably be interested in.

Pricing-wise they seem pretty competitive with the Yukon XL SLT model with Luxury package if I compare against the Series II "L" model with the Premium group (about $77K). I didn't really look at the "Grand" version as I don't want to spend $100K for a vehicle.

Looks-wise I don't think they look bad, although some may disagree. I guess my biggest concern with them is the reliability, especially considering that the "L" model is brand new. I'd also be interested in hearing some reviews on that Hurricane motor which is supposed to have 420 HP and 486 lb/torque. Sounds impressive but I'm sure the mileage won't be anything like the Duramax.

Anyone considering one of these considering all the problems GM is having fulfilling orders?

My friend works at stellantis. He worked on the hurricane engine and did a 1200 mile test drive with it a couple months ago. He said the engine performed very well and he was impressed with the results they got.

That being said, he still said he wouldn't get a stellantis vehicle and prefers GM.

Interesting info....did he mention any specifics like what kind of power it had in the lower RPM's or mileage they got during testing?

I'd probably prefer the GM solution myself at this point but if I can't get a diesel then that might open some more doors.

Work for Stellantis. Bought a GMC Yukon. nuff said.

Personally I think Yukon is more bang for the buck. There’s no “SLE” type offering on the wagoneer either. you’re into the $$$ right right away.

The base wagoneer here is about $15K USD here over the base Yukon.

Jeep overstepped their target market IMHO. trying to make a luxury SUV. It’s a jeep. depreciation is painfull.

I do not recall specifics but he was very impressed with the performance and power it was putting down during their testing. But longevity is always a concern with stellantis, and he said upper management kept rushing the engine team to get this motor to market without having things finalized as they would like... so time will tell how well these engines hold up in the long term

Anyone experience in cars, buying, selling, or trading in knows or has learned Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep have no value used and take a huge hit. Then the quality of the product is terrible long term. There is no comparision of these two vehicles. Gm has had quite a few issues since this new 2021. Disappointing and annoying............yet it would be my only choice. Gm for all their problems presently is leaps and bounds above a Jeep or Dodge, no comparision.

Yeah this is what I was concerned with, overall quality and reliability. I was reading in a Wagoneer forum some of the experiences of the early adopters. One guy had problems with his Wagoneer, dealer gave him a loaner while it was being repaired, the loaner had serious problems, he brought that in and the next loaner also had serious problems. I think it wasn't until the 3rd loaner that his problems went away. Then I think there was a different guy who had so many problems that Jeep finally bought his Grand Wagoneer back from him, he bought another one and had trouble with it on the way home from the dealership. I think he ended up ordering an Escalade.

I know every new model has problems and even many early adopters of the 2021 Yukon/Tahoe had problems. But overall I tend to agree that the Wagoneer is going to be less reliable than the GM product. I also didn't consider the depreciation factor, that is a good point!

And yes, while I don't think the Wagoneer looks too bad, the GM solution looks so much better.

I have owned several Chrysler/FCA/Stilantus vehicles over the years and they are not as bad the internet would have you believe.

That said, depreciation is a killer on Chrysler products, with the exception of Wranglers. I do think the Ram trucks have gotten much better on the depreciation, but they still lag behind GM & Ford.

I have owned 2 GMCs and one Ford and they had the same amount of issues as any of my Chrysler products. With of the issues I have experienced with these brands none have been all that bad, just minor annoyances.

The one thing that stands out(not the case any longer) when I purchased my 2016 GMC, the dealer service was amazing! No other brand had that level of customer service. Since then, however, the dealership experience has gone to the crapper so, in my area, all domestic brands are about the same with service, which is to say it sucks.

I just thought of something, I have a work van a 2006 Chevy Uplander with 33k miles, that thing has to be the worst GM vehicle ever! It still gives me nightmares

I mention that to remind us that every manufacture has some bad eggs.

I had hyped up the Wagoner soooo much before I drove one that I think it was more of a let down than it should have been. The finishes inside were great, and it has the most comfortable 3rd row out of any of the big guys that we tried.
I'm still waiting on my Yukon Ultimate order though

I would put a caveat on your statement that your generic 'Jeep' reference should actually be Jeep minus the Wrangler. I would venture a pretty educated guess that Wranglers hold their value better than Tahoes and Yukons without a doubt. (coming from a guy who buys something new every year and has friends who own dealerships.... )
