Man if a dumbass like my self can nail a 6l80 rebuild on the first attempt, i have no respect for the rebuilder.

Sounds like they missed something.

What was the issue that resulted in needing the transmission rebuilt in the first place?

A common one is for that 1-2-3-4 drum to crack, the piston is also a known failure point.

I did a ton of research before diving into mine.
I tossed a new drum and billet piston at it for good measure.

I heard stories about the piston cracking on a brand new unit as well...

when I had mine rebuilt they put a extra weld on the drum, I told them I wanted it built for 500hp

I tried to find one that had a welded reinforcement but all i found was a chinese made one that had it, and at a premium price.

I almost didn't want to change out a good known drum, but it had a bunch of wear and i couldn't source a new bearing and seal for the roller bearing and seal setup they did.

The weld on my late 08 manufactured drum looked better than the new drum as well.

But I'm at 2k miles now, and so far so good.

*knocks on wood* :ehcapt:
