Stock Alenza AS/02 Tires

How is everyone liking the stock Bridgestone tires. My experience:

Dry, they feel sure footed, seem to handle the vehicle fine in turns and are quiet.
Wet: Doesn’t take more than about half throttle to break them loose. I have no confidence in the rain.
Snow/Ice: not really any experience, but based on the wet, I’m thinking I can’t do a winter with these.

Debating a swap for some Michelin LTX. Ran those on my 13 Suburban and was pretty happy all around. Also considering just swapping to some Blizzak DMV2’s for winter and running the stocks in the good weather…but that wet performance really scares me.

Where does your rpms run when your at half throttle? I am curious as ive seen many other complain about stock tires. I rarely need to use half throttle in my current truck( rarely hit 3k rpms in a v6) as that is plenty of acceleration in 99% of driving, including inramps to major highways so im just curious if my driving habits are such light footed and out of the normal conditions people drive. When i birrowed my FILs 19 silverado this summer for vacation, i had to really, really mash the pedal to get it to run up over 3k rpms. And that time it felr i really hammered down, otherwise im not sure i even got to half throttle in it and felt i had plenty of acceleration for traffic and road needs. Even doing 75 in a pretty heavy rain i felt stable and planted. Sorry for the ramble, just curious.

Get rid of them and go to the Michelins or your snows for winter. The Alenza suck in snow.

They are a good summer tire, very quiet. I’m in michigan, snow yes they suck, I don’t feel to confident in them.

As I stated in another thread. These tires are junk. GM probably pays 50 bucks apiece for them and they’re the lowest price mass-produce tire they could get their hands on for these vehicles. They just feel thin as a banana skin. If you have a real winter where you are, Blizzaks are the only answer. If you just have mild to moderate winter Michelin are the way to go.
yes, I don’t trust these tires in the rain either even to the point that I will move a trip a day or two if we are going to encounter heavy rain in the forecast. We often drive 6 to 800 miles a day when we are going to a destination and I don’t want to drive 50 miles an hour when I could be driving 80. This will be alleviated when I switch to Defenders at about 20 K miles. Less than a year away.

Yes I would agree, we did a trip to mackinaw few weeks ago, 3.5 hour drive to northern michigan and had heavy rain on way home and I felt very unsafe going 75+, had to drop to 60-65 to feel better. But I would consider winters here to be mild-moderate, have a couple bad snow days each winter that’s about it.

Thanks for the input all, agree...these Alenza AS/02's are brutal in the rain.
And, yes, we have real winters here in MN. I run blizzaks on my wife's and 2 daughter's CR-V's...so am well aware of how much a difference maker they are.
Up to now, have gotten by w/ the Michelins (Or Dueler AT2's) on my Tahoes/Suburbans in the winter, but have been considering adding set of Blizzaks for winter for the Yukon...imagine it will be crazy good w/ the Blizzaks on it.

With my satin steel, was considering going w/ the 20" Wheels from the '19-'20 RST Silverado..think they may look good on the Denali in Satin Steel? Obviously would need to get some blank or GMC center caps, and the blizzaks...but thought this may make a nice winter set, and easy to clean.

Redline is around 6k, so half is 3k. Like you, unless I am loaded or towing, or passing on a 2 lane, rarely have to get on it past 3k, but do it once in a while on an open road for a smile (gotta burn out some carbon once in a while). Paid for the 6.2, gotta smile every so often

, before going back to my grandpa style of drivin.

Point is, though, sometimes to get out of a jam, a throttle mash or a brake mash is needed. in those cases, I really don't want to be wondering if the tires are gonna bite. I think the general observations of the group are that these tires are bad...maybe I can wait for a late fall day here and buy 2 sets (one set of Michelins, and one set of Blizzaks) and get a deal..or blow $3k...ah, its only money...

For my wife's jag I just bought the smallest and cheapest rims that would work, period. Nobody cares what your rims look like when it's 10 degrees and most of your stuff is salt covered. All of it is just to try to get thru till spring...

So, which models came with the Bridgestones? My Denali came with Conti's and I'm pleased with them so far (and I'm another fan of the Defenders). Quiet, comfortable, and seem to be stable in the rain up to the point there are large puddles.
