Honey do list got in the way of tackling the headlight swap. I guess it will be an after work thing now with Beer...Added bonus, garage door safety sensor are acting a fool!
I know this is late in posting and because I once heard "unless there are pictures, it didn't occur" so here is the final project...lol Added bonus, found gapping holes in the bottom of the assembly for what I can only imagine were for strobes. What a difference at night and I dont have my LEDs in yet!

My head lights are starting to show their age.

Add another future project to the list.
I'll probably start with a sanding and clearcoat.
Excuse to try out some painting gear i have been sitting on for a while now...

Got the tags. Drove it home from Christiansburg VA bought it Sunday seller let me use his tags to get home. 08 LTZ Ton of stuff inbound from e bay, its a start. :)

Trusting seller!
Too many horror stories for me to ever do that unless i really know the person.

I had a car where the seller offered to let me use the old plates to get home.

Me: lectured him lightly about why he should never do that after politely declining.

Wet sand the headlights

I have done those headlight kits where you wet sand and then wipe a clearcoat over them.
they work pretty well, but I'm thinking the clearcoat they use isn't very UV stable since they deteriorate after a year or two.

I have been preparing for a paintjob on the ol vette for years now, I even have an air compressor system that I adore setup to do it.
Adding that elaborate air system has been the best thing I have ever done short of tool storage in the garage. :headbang:

Anyways,
I have an air sander that I bought to do prep work and to help with the final wet sanding.
Hardest part with that is a fiberglass (SMC) car, so I have been a bit of a chicken shit when it comes to paint removal. :)

Anyways, I'm willing to risk destroying a set of headlights here.
then see how well my spray gun does laying down a little bit of clear.

I still have the plan to do the ol green craftsman rider.
I need to get some practice with silver, so I'm thinking it's going to be silver with a nice clearcoat. :jester:

Wife finally gave me some downtime with her car.
I have been adding refrigerant to her car to keep the AC functional, and lightly scolding her each time since i'm seeing the leak getting worse with more oil loss.

Just got it pulled, lines capped, and a light vacuum applied while I let that condenser drain for the oil balance.
Supposed to be .3 ounces of oil, so I'm hoping it comes out less than that to account for the loss.

Filled up in Paducah, KY just before going into IL where the gas is higher due to their taxes. 93 octane was $4.67/gal.

Current Ethanol % is 0. I reset the Average Economy in the DIC also so I can get a good comparison while driving up through IL with the cruise set like while on the way down on E85. Most of the highway with cruise set to 80mph it showed 18mpg. Got stuck in stop n go traffic due to an accident for about 20 minutes just before getting into MO and it dropped down a bit and is currently at 17.5mpg
