I don't think the 3.0L has any additional radiator cooling with or without the tow package

Thank you for the input as my travel trailer is 27 feet as well. I worry about the air suspension that comes in them as I live in Canada and we have alot of salt and Brine on the roads in the winter which will most likely cause issues to the lines going to them ? i read somewhere the connections are not the best

I had a 2015 Tahoe LT 5.3 with the Max Trailer Package which I used to tow a 28 Ft Travel Trailer which was said to have a 6,600 # Dry Weight. Using a Hensley No Sway Weight Distribution Hitch we travelled Coast to Coast in Canada & The US with no issues. I ordered a 2021 Tahoe LT with Max Trailer in January of 2021 which was never built. Ordered a 2022 in Aug 2021 and took delivery in Nov. I recently did my first trailer trip with it and it handled much the same as the 2015. The new additions to the Max Tow which is primarily the TPMS set up is great as well. I would recomend waiting for Max Tow.

The rated towing capacity for the Yukon xl is 7700lbs and the rated capacity for the Yukon is 7900lbs. Has anyone towed travel trailers weighing in the area of 6000-7200lbs? I will have a weight distribution hitch, brake controller, and most likely will add some airbags for the guaranteed sag.

You may also lose transmission integration where by it gears down as you step on the brakes... if it is like their integration with the 6.6 Duramax. Having used both, i agree the integrated braking is much better than an aftermarket unit.

Having trailer tire pressure displayed in your truck could save you serious money if you lose pressure and avoid blowing a tire.

Interesting about the trailering package availability. I ordered a base Tahoe in May, it showed up at the dealership first of July. The only option I ordered was the max trailering package. The integrated brake controller is there and it works.

I too wanted Max Trailering option, but with so many delays, last year I opted for the 3.0 Yukon XL SLT on the lot coincidentally built with every option we wanted minus the Max Tow. We tow a 25' Airstream that weighs in around 6500lb when loaded. I installed an aftermarket RedArc in the same location where the factory integrated controller would have been. Previous brake controller I had used in another vehicle was a Tekonsha P3. My previous 2016 Sierra had integrated brake controller and although nice to have, I must say I am impressed with my RedArc in the Yukon. So in closing, as disappointed as I was not to have the integrated controller and other nice to haves, it's not the end of the world.

I'm in the fence about going SLT or Denali with air ride. My main concern is sag. How is that sag with your airstream?

Not sure if this is too late, but here’s my .02. We have an SLT with max tow pkg., we tow a 6900/7k trailer. There is sag. The alleged key is in the adjustment of the wdh and ball angle. By changing these two things, we reduced the sage by 1.75”. Is it perfectly level? No. With the integrated pkg, we are able to see the miles placed on the trailer, any maintenance issues that the trailer may have (none yet), it also ‘shifts’ differently to keep the maximum amount of power so we are able to accelerate somewhat as easily as when we aren’t towing, & bonus, I get to watch my engine temperature. Plus the integrated brake control feels priceless.

I have zero idea if any of these features are available without the MTP, this is just our experience.

I properly adjusted the weight distribution with the Fastway E2 sway setup I've been using for years and I have not had any issues. I did not have air ride of course in my 2016 Sierra Denali, but it did have the Magnetic Dampening shocks. Honestly, it was one of the main reasons I avoided the Denali trim. I never felt like the system was offering me any better ride while towing and those struts are expensive to replace, fortunately I never had to. I haven't had issues with sagging or a poor ride, the rear was maybe slightly below it's unloaded height, 1/2 to 3/4". I want to mention there is a tow mode for the transmission under the selections so even the non max tow or lack of integrated brake controller you still have this function. Hope this helps.
