Hello,

Has anyone used this product?

It has a bad review. I have Lamin-X door cup, door sill and door edge guards and all seem like a good product.

I had a can of smoke plasti-dip and today I sprayed a couple coats on my tail lights, with a light coat of black and gloss-ifier. It definitely looks smokey / shaded but I don't like the light fuzz. It is not smooth. I used this stuff on a car about 8 years ago... 2014 WRX.

The rear tail lights are very difficult to wrap due to their shape and curves. I’m certainly not an expert but I have done a decent amount of wrapping over the years on various vehicles, and I cannot seem to get the wrap the lay nicely on my Tahoe…

The place I wanted to take my Yukon to wanted $500 to smoke-tint the taillights, side markers, and rear bumper reflectors. I almost did it, but then I got to thinking that "what if" law enforcement decided to issue me a fix-it ticket at some point. I'd have to buy a brand new set of taillights just to pass inspection.

@ProfeZZor X yeah not looking to go dark with it, just a little tint on it. I don't like the chrome trim inside the lens.

Likewise... I feel like GM could have stepped up their game for the AT4 Yukon at removed the chrome trim inside the headlights, since all of the window trim and molding isn't chrome. The only chrome on the vehicle exterior is the boarder around the front and rear "GMC" badges, the wheel lugs, and the little keyless buttons on the door handles.

I’ve used Lamin-x in the past, not a huge fan. I just used like smoke from Vvidid on mine. The look is great, but it is a little tricky to get it heated and stretched just right on these tails.

I've had it for over a year and no complaints from law enforcement etc. I asked the applicator about it and he says there is no current law to dictate tinting of rear lights in our state vs say tinting of windows.... And mine are fairly dark...

@Trent88 thanks for the photo! I’ve seen the Vivvid stuff on Amazon but not sure about it… unfortunate about Lamin-X I have the door edge guards, cup guards and sill guards and they went on without any big headaches.

Well I pulled the trigger and got a set of the Lamin-X rear tail light tint kit over the July 4th weekend with a 20% off promo code. I put it on today and only took about 2 hours tops to do. The second one seemed easier than the first. There are a few bubbles that I think will dry out. You will need a blowdryer like the instructions say.

The Tahoe tail light has some complex curves and with the depression in the middle of the lens it makes it difficult, although not that bad. The issue I have with this product is that is that it does not cover the whole tail light. I have a gap at the very bottom of the light about a max 1/4" in width. The inside of the tail light along the tailgate that is parallel with the direction of travel is not covered at all! The material is very thick, which you would think durable, but it does not stretch very well. Overall it wouldn't be so bad, however the bends at the peak of the tail light ridge at the top and bottom of the tail light have some wrinkles that have popped up and just won't go down. I got the Gunsmoke shade which is the in-between shade, I actually still think it looks too dark.

Overall I am not that happy with it. If I didn't have the wrinkles I would feel a little better about it. My recommendation would be to get a sheet of the smoke from Amazon Vvid. I'm going to contact Lamin-X tomorrow

I did get a set of yellow headlight tint, which I am hoping that since the headlight is a flatter surface, with thinner strips that it will come out better than the tails.

I'll get some pictures up soon.
