I'm searching for ways to add more oil cooling.
What are my options? I'm searching for external engine oil coolers in between lulls at work, but am interested what you guys have already tried.
March of 2020 I added a Hayden #696 oil cooler (smallish). I built my own lines. The block adapter is available online.

Here's a TYE thread I started about it. See post # 1, 43, 75, and 100 for pictures.

I don't tow or hotrod the vehicle. I do live in TX. I did it "just cuz".

I dont have the extra oil cooling option. I always use full synthetic oil in my truck so likely, with what I do with my truck, I will never get to a oil temp issue. That said, I considered adding this. Maybe if I need to replace my radiator someday, I'll buy the one with the oil cooler and just add the lines, might make sense at that point. So far, stock and 195k miles... still kickin'.

... can't help but wonder if GM's switch to 0W20 on these engines in the later years for fuel economy might have something to do with some of the lifter failures we're seeing on them.
Blame the lifters first, as in, they fail because they were not designed robustly enough by GM ...
Then assume the parts were built by the lowest bidders, and spec'd so as to fail after about 150K miles, past out-of-warranty so the driver is left holding the bag.
Next, how often do you change your oil? NYC cabdrivers seldom see V4 mode failures under 180K miles because they change their oil every 3500 miles or less.
