What made you decide on a high country over a Denali?

I ordered the Denali over the HC due to the look, interior Dash, and interior color schemes.

My old SUV is Black with Black Leather and it gets way too hot and Denali is the only one that offers a true light/tan leather.

Solid reasoning. We both prefer dark interiors and they both offer one we like. Either way we’d be going black/dark brown.

So, here are the things you get on the Denali that are not on the HC, and are not super obvious:
- Fog lights
- Front side windows are laminated (quieter)
- 3 years of connected services are included (vs 1 month on Chevy; at $25/month, that’s $1200)
- Unique and upgraded rough grain leather on both front and 2nd row seats. (2nd row of Chevy is fake leather, and only center perforated part of first row is leather)
- The unique interior you already mentioned which includes real wood, extra soft touch materials on the doors, center console, and dash, real textured Aluminum accents vs plasticized chrome, and more color combos including 2 tone in the black option
- Full led lighting including tail lights.
- Available electronic limited slip rear diff vs the mechanical option on Chevy (but you have to buy the Air Suspension to get this)
- 14 Speaker sound system vs 12 (rear doors are 2 way in Denali)

Those are the less obvious differences. (I answered the opposite of your question…but those were part why I went w/ Denali over HC. My main reason for going Denali was I wanted Satin Steel exterior and not a black interior…and Mocha w/ Satin Steel was a no go for me. And the HC standard wheels were not to my liking, and I could tolerate the standard Denali 22’s; meaning to be happy I would need to choose one of the optional wheels on the Chevy, at which point it was the same $$ as a Denali)

Oh I know the Denali is more bang for your buck but “things” are nothing to my wife, she’d be just as happy driving her 89 hatchback ford (won’t let me say the model for some dumb reason) she had when we started dating as she would a new luxury vehicle. She’ll drive whatever I get her and she’d be fine with a Denali but really likes the looks of the high country so that’s what she’s getting I guess, I placed an order a few hours ago.

It does blow my mind that you can spend well over 80k on an suv and not get fog lights with it, makes no sense at all. I don’t like any of the factory wheels and already have a set in the garage that were originally bought for her current 16 suburban so I’ll be putting those on.

Friend is a sales manager for some 30+ yrs, recently retired. I recall us talking about the High Country vs Denali a year or so back. He keep saying the HC is not a Denali, given 2 indentical units, one a Denali and the other a HC, the Denali will bring a higher trade in value and will sell for a lot more than a HC. The HC has no brand recognition, its just another Chevy truck/suv. The Denali is has more brand recognition and commands a higher resale value, compared to HC.

That’s all pretty obvious and was already mentioned, but like I said the wife doesn’t like the gmc front end so it is what it is. If I told her we need to get the Denali she would be fine with it but I buy myself what I like so she can have what she likes as well.

Haha thanks, and I sure hope so. We do everything together and enjoy each other’s non stop company.

I know a Denali is a better buy but I was curious what made others choose a high country instead when they’re basically the same price.

We’re getting ready to order a new duramax suburban and my wife prefers the looks of the suburban over the XL. I like them both from an exterior standpoint but when she saw an all black high country that sealed the deal.

Optioned similarly the Denali is only $600 more and seems like a better buy since it’s the only model with a unique dash. I like them both just fine but I’m all about getting the most for my money and in this case that seems like a Denali. What made you guys go with a high country over a Denali?
Have you shown her what an all black Denali looks like?
