Need some advice from the audio guys here. I am adding the rear factory sub box to my 03YXL. I have a Kenwood amp KAC 5204, that is 4ohm Bridged (150w x 1), and can also produce 2ohm (75w x 2). I have a 8" DVC sub ( MB Quartz DS1-204) that according to the manual is wired either 8ohm (+/- jumper wire) or 2ohm (leads split to each side of the voice coils). Looking for the best options of wiring - or if necessary replacing the amp. Also, if I need to replace the amp, can I use the Kenwood temporarily and in what configuration? Thx

Voice coils wired in parallel will give u a 2 ohm load aslong as there 4 ohm voice coils and think they are as u said either 2 or 8ohm …
Are u sure the amp won’t do 2 ohm bridged

But u won’t be able to get 4 ohm out of that speaker unless U bought another of the same exact speaker .. then u could wire it series/ parallel and u would have a 4 ohm load

That amp is supposed to be 2 Ohm stable, so wire the speaker to the 2 Ohm specification and see how it sounds, particularly at higher volumes.

Correct but he can only wire it to one channel of the amp … so it’s only gonna be 75 watts going to the sub bridged he can’t the amp will get hot and shut off as it would be a 2ohm load going into a 4ohm bridged … being a class a/b amp even if u turned the gain down and bridged it the amp is gonna cut off and poss burn out …one channel ur fine at 75 watts 2ohm but I doubt that’s enuff to push that sub … u can find decent used mono block class d amps pretty cheap now aday
