I have only 2 but a lot of Nieces and nephews plus a few times a week I’m hauling all my firefighter equipment around plus a couple travel bags

My two cents
Sounds like an XL would be a more ideal fit for you. Plus you will have piece of mind with having all your equipment safe n secure within the interior of the rig.

When faced with this decision about 5 years ago, I went with a Yukon XL. They were less expensive used than pickups and I haul more people than stuff. Still haul furniture and what not inside, still tow and play in the mud and forest trails. Miss having a pickup but the need is once or twice a year and now my daughter has one, wink, wink!!

The solution is to buy the new Yukon but keep around an older PU for pick up things….
My PU cost me about 500 a year all in to keep on the road but it’s uses are invaluable when you need it. Tows much better, park where you want and don’t care, throw junk in back..don’t care. Go thru car wash, don’t care. Plus bonus points, if the dealer won’t give you a loaner….guess what….Don’t care…..
Ive had 3 vehicles for over 20 years, an extra one has saved me innumerable times…..

I, as many above, have owned many Pickups, and suburbans, and Yukon XLs over all these years. Each time I convinced myself the new shiny, nice smelling thing was what I needed, and didnt "really" need the other one. The pickup to Yukon XL dilemma is VERY common. I have done this several times, and having the dilemma unfold all over again.
Married, child, big dog, active life, tow, play with and race cars.
This is what I have learned:

I must really like pickups for lots of reasons...because I am not opposed to ever getting one. You know...to do MAN stuff!! Yep, they are versatile, and can do alot of things when needed. They look great and have really stepped up their game!
The Yukon XL is better at 98% of what I do, and has more advantages more often than a pickup does. All the luggage is inside air conditioned!! Not under the black bed cover at 150 degrees! (I live in Florida, and roadtrip all summer)!! The dog is much happier in the back with his own space and AC!! Canvas back liners cover all the carpet in the back and its no big deal putting anything in the back of the Yukon XL, maybe just a minute of effort to put down a moving blanket or tarp for the dirty stuff. The Yukon XL is a much better ride. It is the swiss army knife of SUVs!!! Only 2% of the time will you ever say....I wish I had gotten the pickup!! But when you have the pickup...there seems to more times you really need the Yukon XL!!!!

Yep, I did it again!! I love my 2021 Sierra Denali CC. But I once again have come to realize, that the Yukon XL just fits better. To my defense there were no 2021 Yukon Xls during Covid be had here and made my jump in my Denali easier.

If anyone has a line on a 2022-2023 Yukon XL, 3.O duramax, white frost, 2WD, Denali, no sunroof, adaptive cruise.....let me know!!!......Think i will be in this truck another year or two! LOL

I thought you still had your old one as a second car.

If you don't need a pickup for work and very rarely have the need for one then it seems pretty clear you need a yukon xl. Don't even bother with the smaller version unless you only plan to haul people and no stuff. XL hauls 7 or 8 people AND stuff, shorter ones do not. We have 2 kids and zero pets and the short version was never even a consideration. 10 years with a suburban and now an xl and zero regrets

Lots of room..... I still work on small houses..... All my equipment is stored in plastic containers, and load/unload is 5 minutes for the weekend. I removed the 3rd seat & store it in a durable bag. I have a nice canvas drop cloth to line the whole bottom, with a Weathertech cargo mat, on top, for possible leaks from paint, etc. 8'2" of space.
I like the removable 3rd seat... so the cargo floor is low.... allowing for height.
