Hey everyone. I've buiot quite a few ls engines for the performance shop I work at but have never done a cam in a yukon. This is my personal vehicle I'd like to mention that. Anyway, I currently have dod turned off in my tune. I want to physically delete it and while I'm in there, throw in a good cam with a nice idle lope and "stock" drivability. I don't necessarily need how tos but I'd like to hear some personal experiences. If I have to swap converters and go to a higher stall, that's fine but if someone is running g a stage 1 cam with a nice lope or even a stage 2 I'd like to know how your drivability is. I already have a rave car built for 1500 hp I don't need this to be super fast it is my daily. I want to know your cam combos and know how it acts at a stop light. I don't want it to lurch or push through the brakes. A lot of the cars we do, are manual and for the ones that aren't, go to a 4k-4500 stall so they don't notice it. A higher stall converter doesn't seem to be what will suit my needs since I daily this. I only have 20k miles so f the warranty. I've heard we can swap to a zl1 converter? Thanks guys. Also who tuned yours? Did you have tcm unlocked and tuned?

Welcome to the Forum from NH.

Lots of knowledgeable folks here who freely share their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives. Knowledge is power.

I hope that you will become a participating member in the Forum's discussions.

Pics of the truck, please.

I cannot personally help you with your question; however, other members on this Forum that are much more knowledgeable than me will chime in.

I don't have any recommendations or insight to add; But I'm really hoping some owners will chime in. I too am looking to mechanically delete the AFM in my '15 Yukon Denali XL w/ 6.2L L86 and 8 speed. Looking for a cam that will provide similar characteristics as your chasing; Some additional power, not too harsh on the valvetrain, and "stock" drivability with a stock torque converter for daily use.

any updates? just got a 16 Tahoe with a 5.3 myself. funny thing is im In the middle of a cam swap on my LS1 firebird currently, but was wondering what the differences are in swapping cams... soni started doing a little research and in short a lot lol, well not all that but some significant differences in the generations fornsure. the DOD delete being a big part of it, but doesn't seem too bad. problem is that you gotta take it all apart before you can even swap the cam out. at least in a truck it's a bit easier to access some stuff, unlike an fbody lol
