Can any of y'all explain why headlight assembly housings without Xenon/HID bulbs/Ballasts are more expensive than the same assemblies with LEDs already installed? Am I missing something?

most likely because factory headlights are expensive, and aftermarket is not.

Yes, the factory headlights are MUCH higher quality than the garbage on eBay. I bought aftermarket Eagle Eyes headlights which are supposedly the best to do my HID projector retrofit on my old Yukon because I had never done it before and wanted to start with something cheap in case I broke them. Those headlights didn't last a year before the clear coat on both started peeling and I always kept the truck washed every few weeks and they were ceramic coated. Pure garbage. The OEM headlights last 10 years before they start doing that. I was going to buy OEM headlights and swap the retrofit over but ended up selling and buying another Escalade instead. I also put aftermarket headlights on a few other cars for people I know that didn't want to spend for the OEMs and both looked like crap about a year later. That said, there's an ass for every seat. If you're keeping it, get OEM. If you're trying to spruce it to sell it, get aftermarket.
