?? Fuel filter??

So on a 2000 Yukon did the GM just want this to be the dumbest design ever? Looks like I need to drop the cross member , the fuel line bracket, and then maybe get this thing off?
Anyone got some tips or tricks? Can find a video

you dont need to take any thing off, if the line nut is not rusted up use a line wrench on it, then get a large wrench that fits the filter's nut, the trick here is to hold the line nut still, and turn the filter off the line nut, this way you dont twist the line. if the line nut looks rusty and or beat up, go right to a good set of vice grips and same deal. turn the filter off the line nut.

the other side you just pinch and pull the line off, have a drain pan handy cause a fair amount of gas will come out the line, having gas run down your arm to your arm pit is pretty normal. have a spare shirt handy lol

I got the back end off, but the front I can’t seem to get to it. I thought after removing the bracket that hold to filter to the wall that I would be able to twist it off the front as you described.
Maybe the 50 MPH. Winds that are filling my eyes with sand is the real problem lol I will go back to it in the morning when the wind is down.

the round bracket tends to help keep it from twisting around on ya. once the lines are free you can just push it out of the bracket.

not gonna lie most of the time the line nut is super tight and put up a good fight, why you might already have a beat up line nut. past filter changes witness marks.

So I guess the front is so rusted that I was only able to get a half turn. Now I can’t get enough pressure or leverage to turn it any more. So does this mean I’m going to have to replace the fuel line?

Is this the nut side of the filter, or the quick connect side that's stuck?

i know its a grand prix forum, but the fuel lines are the same, with this how to you change the filter to a pinch clip on both sides, cut off and patch the line nut with the dorman part listed. makes life easy down the road, and as long as your kinda screwed and need to cut the line off anyways, its worth the upgrade. that small pipe cutter is nice if you have one, makes a clean cut vs a hack saw that leaves metal dust behind.
