Anyone looked into converting Push button to Column shifter?

No need to discuss the pros and cons here but I (like many) prefer the mechanical column shifter over the buttons/dials of nowadays. Currently waiting for my burb but having owned the current (pre-LCI) T1 Silverado I was wondering how interchangeable the parts are? My initial impression it’s probably very difficult given how far apart the two platforms have grown since the old days, but still wanted to pose the (crazy) question and see if anyone looked into it??

I'm all for DIY...but this seems (imo) like a big project for the desired outcome. Maybe easier/better to just purchase your desired setup/configuration.

I agree it’s likely too complicated but figured I asked anyway. There’s no way to buy a Suburban with the column shifter, yet it can be had in the pickups.

big maybe on that one, would take a donor silverado/sierra and some know how to find out
they are only changing things a little at time so you will be geared towards there self driving system when that gets federal approval
then later the plan is for all gm vehicles to be "shared" no private party ownership, not making that up it's printed right on there various website's
that's part of why everything is going electronic, they will be able to just send a address to the vehicle and it will drive away on it own.
those electronic controls are questionable at best in my opinion, a family member of mine had a 21 tahoe, parked it on a boat ramp in line waiting to pick up some jet ski's, it was in park and parking brake was on and we were outside of the vehicle standing there a few feet away and it made a pop sound and suddently lurched forward a few inches and stopped again. He's already lemon lawed it back to the dealer for other issue's but I wouldn't trust these push buttons, there electronic, electronics fail not a lot but they do

Plus I think GM may have eliminated the shift linkage on the transmission, probably shifted by solenoids internally now.
