What is the average dealership markup for a 2022 Yukon Denali? Just got quoted $10k markup

I have been looking for several months in California as well. I found 2 dealerships that are not charging above MSRP. Try contacting motor city GMC out of Bakersfield

And Tustin GMC

I have an order in at the Bakersfield dealership.

I'm getting our grand daughter a new car when she graduates from college. Guess I'd better go ahead and get my order placed; she starts pre-school this fall.

Just Stopped by Tustin dealership last Friday. They said they have Yukon diesel available in transit. No Mark up but they add $3700 door sealed protection Fees and some other fees. So I didn’t take it. It’s never no mark up lol.

I am really surprised that Additional Dealer Markup (ADM) is not made illegal. Back in the 50's dealers charged what they wanted, but then the Monroney Label came into being so dealers did not have wild price differences. Find another dealer honestly... I had a friend just order a new 2023 Corvette without ADM.

We pre-ordered a 2022 Yukon Denali at a local dealership in California. They said they are not charging a markup but the wait is 1-1.5 yrs for the exact car we want.

So I went around and started emailing EVERY dealership in California- we plan to find one before then. We got a hit for basically the exact car we want but the dealership is marking it up $10k. HOLY CRAP. We can't do it.

Is this normal? Are we going to deal with this no matter where we go?!
We went through the same bs. The ONLY dealership I found that didn’t put a markup on the Yukon was the gmc dealership in seaside ca. we got a 22 red Yukon xl for 85k and zero mark up.

We ordered it with the diesel engine- I've heard that may slow things down
We wanted diesel, but our dealer said they were on constraint and not being made. Looking through all the forums its just stacked with stories of people waiting 6+ months for those. Ordered Denali XL with retractable steps and sunroof only March 26, and it was built May 9. Awaiting shipping now.

I ordered my SLT diesel March 8, it came in last Friday! A little less than 10 weeks.

I tried 3 Texas dealers when I was shopping in February. All of the dealers I contacted refused to do business with out of state buyers. One said they’ve had too much fraud as of late and wouldn’t make any exceptions.
I didn't have that problem at all. Nor did the Mississippi dealership imply that when I called each day to make sure it was still there. Once you overnight them that cashier's check with the VIN number of the vehicle, they know you're serious... That's when the attitudes change and the ass kissing begins.

I checked with two different dealership here in the DFW area. One had a 6,000 mark up and the other was 7,000. I was like I will just continue to wait for the one I ordered that isn’t marked up.

i contacted several around the dallas area earlier in the year and had one call me back a couple weeks ago - they were $6k over in Feb...i asked how they were pricing them these days....$7k mark up and $3k add on charge...so $10k over...

i probably contacted 20+ dealers over a span of several weeks back in Jan/Feb and only found one dealer that was at sticker out of state...several were a couple grand over with add ons but most were in the $4k-$6k over ( including several in rural MS - definitely wasn't expecting them to be over)

thought i had one bought in Tulsa and the salesman never mentioned a mark up when i specifically asked about it...when i asked to send the paperwork over it had a $5k adjustment added to it - called him back and he said that he was "just doing what he was told since I was out of state"...I'm a couple hours away from him in AR

got lucky ordering one from a (relatively) local dealer at sticker
