Need to look into getting my hood and roof painted. Maybe some touch up on the sides. How much should I expect to pay? 20220509_132430.jpg

I would be pretty happy with that. I have been told about $2000 or more. I need to find a Maaco maybe.
Last year I had a local GM dealership paint my new bumper cover for about $500. I called around and got 4 or 5 quotes and they were all within $50 of each other, the dealer won because of time and professionalism.

For what it’s worth, I got a quote from them for repainting a 98 ex-cab truck in late 2019. Their high-end quote was $4k for the whole truck and $2-ish for their lowest, while local (real) shops were around $8k.

For a hood and roof, I’d say that $2k is probably in the ballpark for a body shop doing proper surface prep. A Maaco scuff and shoot would probably be much less, but you get what you pay for and their quality control varies with each franchise.

The one that I talked to had a Crown Vic in the lot that they had painted white with their cheapest package. It looked like they’d used Crayola poster paint on it over dust and all sorts of debris. Overspray on the trim, etc. It was a thirty footer at best, fit for a clapped-out airport taxi cab and nothing more. It looked like dogsh*t yet the sales guy was raving about it. I got their quote and never went back. He and I obviously had different interpretations of what a paint job should look like.

In my various conversations with folks and from what I’ve read, not all Maaco locations are equal. I’d make sure to do some research on which ever Maaco location you are thinking of going to.

Got my estimate yesterday. Quoted me $1200 plus paint and materials. Brought the total to $1600ish. Not too bad, but that wouldn't include the top of the doors or fenders. They wanted $7000 to do the entire truck. I am going to hold off for now, but when I do something it will just be the roof and hood. $7000 is way out of my league. I may look into wrapping the hood and roof, but I think paint is probably the best way to go. What do you guys think? Paint or wrap?

I don’t think a reputable shop will wrap paint in that condition? It needs a clean surface to adhere to? Check with the body shop if you can do some of the prep and sanding and removal of any trim or lights yourself to save $ on a paint job.
