Different vehicle I know, but whenever I ride in my bro in laws ford edge sport with 22's and 45 series tires I absolutely hate it. He's got nice pirelli tires too but the ride just seems harsh and it's like you can feel every imperfection in the road. I'm all about 20's with meaty tires

Pirelli tires are garbage. Get Michelin Defenders on that thing and it’ll ride great.

So, anyone have any idea why, when you go to the Premium Capability Package w/ Active Response 4WD, GMC requires you to take 22" wheels? Is this something in the clearance with the Air suspension? I always wondered that, but never could find an answer.

I had 20" on my 2013 Suburban, always wrapped in Michelin LTX M/S, which they changed to Defender LTX M/S (same tire, different branding), and they always ran well.
The 22" Bridgestone Alenza's are doing OK on my Yukon XL, but would probably just have preferred to save teh $1995 in cost for the rims...and kept the 20's...alas, they were "included/required" in the aforementioned package.

Perennial topic... remember when 17"/18" were common place and the 20"s were just coming out.

In 10 years we'll be discussing 28".

I'm happy with my 17", better ride quality than brand new Tahoes.
