I have a 2016 PPV Tahoe that I purchased new as a personal vehicle and it currently has 23,500 miles on it. The Tahoe is typically covered from the elements but the hood has started to fade very quickly as of late. Most of the work vehicles in my unit are 2015-2016 Suburbans and 7 of the 8 are black and have the same issue. The other one is white and the paint is still holding up well. Guess my question is, was there ever any type of recall for this issue? I attached a picture of my hood. I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this but hoping there is some recourse that I'm not aware of. Thanks

I’d think the warranty is over. If it was me and the rest of the truck looks good I’d get it painted. I just had my rear bumper painted because the clear was peeling on my 2015.

no recall , even though it should be .... its a wide spread GM paint prep issue.... i have seen posts on multiple forums for tahoe/burb/yukon/escalades.

GM sometimes comes back w/ they will cover $2k. most times they try to say its something the owner did... which is b.s.

so far , i have seen hoods & roofs

my '15 has hood & roof issues. i covered roof w/ vinyl for now

My hood corner paint is starting to fade a bit on my 2015; I'd probably get the hood and possibly front bumper repainted in a few years.

On my truck like I stated the read bumper clear coat started flaking off first. My roof is pretty water spotted and faded because the PO really didn't clean/wax the roof. I'm going to buff it out first see how it looks..........

Oh yeah, I just realized your car is a PPV; I highly doubt the police regularly wash/polish/wax their cars so it's probably due to lack of care. 5 years without wax you'd expect that.

It is a PPV but it is my personal vehicle that I was able to buy new from a Chevy dealership in Houston. I have a Suburban take-home vehicle so none of my personal vehicles are driven very much. That 2016 Suburban's hood and roof's paint is ruined as well along with 7 other black Suburbans.

I was hoping for an unknown recall but assumed that it wasn't going to be an option. Thanks for the responses.

A class action lawsuit was just filed. Not sure if anything will come if it.

I have the exact same problem with my 2017 Black Tahoe hood and roof paint is defective. My neighbor has a grey Tahoe 2017 with same paint defect. My family has always been a chevy customer except for a 2003 F250 I had for 15 years and traded for this Tahoe but now switching to Ford. My son just traded 3 months agao his 2500 HD for a F350 King Ranch and a much better truck and Fords Customer service is far better than Chevy. His wife is ordering a 2023 Expedition instead of Tahoe or Yukon. Coming up in September 2022 I will most likely order a F250 or Expedition instead of Chevy based upon their customer loyalty and quality. Thanks Chevy for screwing your loyal customers on a serious manufacturing defect from your factory.

On the other truck site there is about a 15 page discussion and a lawsuit that is being started. Probably pull it up with a Google search.
