My wife and I decided we wanted to buy a Yukon XL Denali about 3 weeks ago. I went online to my local GMC dealer and found one in Redwood Metallic with the features we wanted. It wasn’t yet at the dealership, but not sold yet either. We went in and signed the papers at MSRP with a decent amount for our trade-on.

This thing arrived today. It should be ready for us to take delivery later today or tomorrow after they clean it up and apply the ceramic coating. From decision to having it in our garage is about three weeks.

If they told you they can apply a ceramic coating and deliver the car same day, I hate to say you got robbed! I do detailing for a second job, and a true ceramic coating takes two to three days to prep, apply and cure! The whole vehicle must be decontaminated and a clay bar cleaning. Then the paint needs to be polished and the surfaces need to be defect free. Then a denatured alcohol bath must take place. Then the coating is applied by hand one panel st a time. Once the coating has been applied, depending on the brand, the vehicle must be exposed to UV light for a few hours to start the curing process. Then the vehicle cannot come in contact with water for at least 24 hours. This process on a Yukon should run anywhere from $1800-$3000 depending on the apication company.

Now I'm going to have to check in with my detail guy and see what he did to our '21. I brought it to him when it was brand new so he could ceramic coat but he only charged me $275 and I had it back same day. It's super shiny, repels water like I've never seen before and my traditional car wash soap does not work as the vehicle just won't allow any suds to form. But after reading this (I did not really research ceramic coating much) it seems pretty clear he must have just used a ceramic wax and I did not get a true ceramic coating. I though the dealership was just trying to take me to the cleaner with their several thousand dollar ceramic coat offering...you live and learn I guess

I’m loving this color, I’m looking to trade my late fathers 2020 Sierra HD Denali for a 2022 Yukon Denali and I’ve been torn on the colors. This is gorgeous
