Anyone running Mobil One High Mileage Extended Performance?

I think High Mileage is just a branding gimmick, perhaps different additive package - more soft metal stuff in them? For my daily driver I buy the cheaper oil. Most all oils are pretty good now days (unless you're in Mexico. Lots of the oil jugs in Mexico don't have API cert HERE). I tore down my 5.3L with 230k miles on it and couldn't even see any wear on the main bearings. Makes me believe all these oil types are a bunch of hubbub aside from conventional versus synthetic. I don't think they sold High Mileage oil back in 90's when my father got too lazy to change oil and delegated me to do my first oil changes... Correct me if I'm wrong anybody.

As far as oil. I had the lifter tick too in my old engine. Did also the Berryman flush and fixed it. Long story short... My opinion... Use a good quality synthetic and quality filter. Then call it a day.

My routine (Built a 6.0L with $700 lifters / Johnson 2116LSR). Factory lifters are prone to oil varnish, don't like poor quality oil, in these trucks. If they tick isn't end of world, but to avoid that / protect my new lifters... I would use (1) high quality synthetic and (2) I'm currently testing K&N oil filter... WIX is good enough but I see K&N gives me a little extra capacity.

Lastly, I don't think this is your question but I scratch my head when ppl want to buy cheap oil. Think about it... What is $50 on an oil change when you only need to do it every several thousand miles at most? We're talking cents a mile here. Be leery of marketing - high mileage additive package gimmicks. It's likely just that, fancy marketing. Also, I don't really believe in extended life oil either. Again oil changes are CENTS a mile. I change at 5,000 miles or once it looks dirty.

Also, I don't have one but hope to add it... The oil cooler on a truck is worth it. It will keep your oil performing better for longer. Oil breaks down when it gets hot. I could be wrong but believe much of why oil needs changed is because of heat more than anything.

I’ve owned my 04 Z71 for 12 years and 130k miles (of the total 185k). Exclusively used Mobil 1 5-w30 extended w/ M1 filter, and changed every 10k… Absolutely no issues at all; Oil at changes feels as slippery and viscous as the new oil. I also use exclusively in my other 3 vehicles: no problems whatsoever. I highly recommend; also Walmart 5qt for around $27 is hard to beat!

My odometer is approaching 160k. I've been running regular 10w30, but replacing the 6th quart of oil with a quart of Lucas (100% petroleum), which helps a lot with quieting lifters at start-up and reducing oil consumption.

Considering bumping up to one of the two synthetic High Mileage formulas... Any experience? Anyone sticking to conventional oil?

Also, is there a consensus on which oil filter to use for higher mileage Vortecs?

I have a 6.0 in my 01 Yukon Denali. Been using the Syntec High Mileage oil and a WIX filter for at least 5 years on this rig (since I got it). It's heading north of 250k miles and engine is still running like new. A few issues like a coil pack and a bad O2 sensor and that is all. I've been using Syntec for many years on a lot of old and high mielage vehicles. BTW, I'm now retired but I had a shop for 25+ years and have been wrenching myself for over 45 years. Best thing is to make sure you are using a good filter and change it regularly. With new synthetic oils going a lot longer before needing a change, I always recommended that if using an oil that can last 15k miles, change the filter at 5k and top off the oil. As long as you keep removing the crap from the system you can go a lot longer. But having oil that last 15k and a filter that clogged at 7500 and then the oil bypassed the filter, it a poor investment. KEEP that filter clean above all else. I have a Jeep Cherokee that is hitting 370k miles and the engine has never been rebuilt. I've changed the filter every 2500 miles and oil every 5000 since new. Still using regualr oil as that was what the engine was designed to use. I have always used Fram or WIX filters too.

Yeah I rambled on a bit haha... By cheaper I mean just off brand, house brand. I try to do Mobile one for the motor I put in my truck and Corvette.

Best time to get Mobil oil is when Mobil has an active rebate program going on. I waited on purpose April 1 2021 to get those M1 10W30 jugs @ $6 each so I can claim the $10 Mobil 1 digital rebates So In total I got $80 rebate from Mobil on $192 worth of oil that I only paid $50 on
