Anyone with a GMT900 clean their headliner? What did you use? How did you do it?

My daughter bought a product from Meguiar's a few years ago, tried it out on the Kia and said it left water stains and refused to try again on my truck.

Not sure how heavy what you’re trying to remove is but I had a few stains from a weed eater. All I had was a pet stain remover. It comes in a bottle with a sponge scrubber on top and it did the job. I’ve since used it on seats and floors with good results but I’ve never cleaned an entire headliner with it.

Are you needing to remove some localized stains, or clean the entire thing?

I haven’t done the Tahoe but a few years back bought a used Grand Cherokee with some stains in the headliner. I used a product called Tuff Stuff foaming cleaner from ArmorAll. No ill effects from that.

It does of course have the usual warning to test in a hidden location. Maybe under the edge of a trim piece?

The best way I found to do it is to take a bucket squirt some Dawn or whatever dish soap you like just so it foams up real good. That being said hit it with the hose get your bubbles up and use a wash mitt to scoop the bubbles nothing else and do your headliner it'll come clean it won't be wet and you won't have to worry about material letting go and sagging and all that mess hope this helps.

I think what happens is the cleaner breaks up the stuff in the stain, loosens it from the fabric and suspends it in the cleaner. But then is spread out everywhere the cleaner's liquid is moved and soaked into as you swirl it around in circles while scrubbing. So, you basically just spread the makeup of the stain out over a larger area so it's thinner and not as noticeable rather than have it focused in one area. Sure, a rag will soak up some of it. I think reapplying the cleaner of choice and dabbing it with a rag/towel and/or vacuuming it out repeatedly until it's gone is the best method. Keeping the cleaning area as small as possible keeps it manageable.

As for the actual cleaners I've used with success, those are the Turtle Wax Power Out and Blue Magic Carpet Stain & Spot Lifter:

Oh, if you use a vacuum, be sure to clean the edge of the nozzle before you go dragging it across the headliner or you'll have more stains to contend with.
