Is the lifter and bent rod issue common to a particular engine or both?
Don’t know, but my service advisor said that they were having lots of problems with the motors in the 21s and to keep my 19 Suburban until at least the 22s are out.

Youtube has many videos of GM lifter problems. As far as I can tell it affects recent year trucks both 5.3 and 6.2. I doubt the 2022s will be any different unless GM makes a design change.

I was under the impression that the current engines are carry overs from previous generations. Why all the problems?

There was a 4 month period where a batch of bad valve springs went into the 2021 engine builds.

our 6,000 mile 2021 Denali is at The dealer for the lifter problem ( they call it risers). No loaners available and service department says 3-4 weeks. They said they will try to get us a loaner, saying they only have 2 loaners but it’s a large dealer in ATL so that’s a bit suspect. I have been reading about this problem online. Very discouraged. What do we need to do? I am worried about us not knowing how to handle this. We are not car people.

Dealerships having two or three loaners is common these days because of not having vehicles on the lot to sell, they sold off the loaners.

When was your Denali manufactured? Hope all goes well.

You may want to look into your state's vehicle lemon law to see if you might have an option within the law. Some people with these issues are getting extended warranties or vehicle buybacks.
