Dammit. I hate plastidip so I’m looking forward to the next step. I had the chrome grill on my 02 Denali painted a couple years ago. It’s held up surprisingly well.

Im not a huge fan of it either...BUT it does have a place at times. This is a good example of that. I sprayed all my emblems with it and they have been holding up well. I did it to the GMC on my sierra one weekend just to see if i liked it and like 8 or 9 years later it was still there. I think it all depends on how good or poor of a spray job you do.

I wish the stock grill would come apart a little easier, those black middle inserts are just clipped in there but i didnt feel like breaking anything. I did enough of that with the aftermarket grill

Update time.....

So im kinda pissed, the ebay return label they sent me doesnt cover enough to do the refund, and if i pay for it outright, its cheaper for me just to keep the stupid thing. I might mess with it again later but i dunno, I have too much other stuff going on right now.

On good-ish tahoe news, I decided to let the ricer in me get out alittle bit. I really like on the new z71s, trail boss, at4 trucks and SUVs they have the red tow hooks...so off they came on mine and I spray painted them red. and of course while drying they fell over and the paint got smeared and wrinkled. AND i was working in a time crunch SO these are just proof of concept right now, I need to take them back off, sand em down and do a proper paint and dry on them. Im going to hang them also but heres a quick driveway shot of it with the black grill and red tow hooks. I like the look

Just remember if you do the rear there’s the defroster to consider- if the film gets bubbles or messed up you can’t remove it or you’ll peel the grid off with the film.
thats why id be having a professional do it. tint isnt hard to do, but its hard to do right and for as cheap as i could have it done, id rather he just do it

Small update to this thread.....

If some remember i had made some videos of engine noises and it turned out to be the cam once they got into it. Long story short, DoD delete and tune... For anyone curious, a summarized list is 3 bolt 6.2L cam, ls7 lifters and trays, oil galley plugs, solid timing tensioner with GM HD chain, new oil pump and pickup tube o-ring, LS3 front cover, head gaskets, head bolts, all front accessory gaskets, VVT to NonVVT harness, and tuned for 86/e85.

Thats done now, been driving it a bunch since picking it back up and it drives so good, im super pleased with how it turned out. So as a "preventative" measure since everything on the top end is clean and fresh, I ordered a catch can today, which will be here monday. Also have some new OEM front brake pads arriving - super exciting I know.

More exciting though, finishing up with a purchase of a airaid MIT from a forum member, and turns out a neighbor of mine runs a tint business out of his garage. After some friendly back and forth, he's going to be doing the back 5 tint on mine in a couple weeks here. Going another layer of 20% over the stock 15/20 in the glass. All in all its shaping up to be quiet the nice truck these days.
