What was the code for then?

In order to actually enable the remote start function in the BCM.

Basically GMs way to make sure dealer techs are not running a side hustle, but enabling it.

I have been kicking around the idea of doing the OE install by the stealership for remote start...I stubmled across a youtube video showing the install of an aftermarket system. I have exchanged a few emails with the vendor asking about my particular setup (pre-wire versus existing) for remote start. They report that their stuff plug and plays with my pre-wire....

Anyone have any experience with them or thoughts????

looks similar to the set up I used on my chevys. Fortin.ca sells plug and play kits you have have to buy the programmer for $50 and have a windows laptop. But it’s really simple

I’ve had mine for about 5 years. Transferred it from my Sierra to my work van. Just had to reprogram

I installed a unit from them on one of my other vehicles. I ordered it with the app module so I could start it from my phone and see where the vehicle is at all times. It’s has been flawless. No issues. Just plug and play. If you have any issues the guys there are great and know their stuff. I highly recommend the unit.

I installed this kit from ADC Mobile for about $150 shipped a few years ago, and I have had no complaints. The owner is a member on this forum (or maybe it was one of the other Tahoe forums) and I personally spoke with him before purchase. The kit is made by Flashlogic, and there is a decent amount of documentation online. You can find the module cheaper elsewhere, but then you have to buy the programmer. For a one-time "set it and forget it" install, you're probably better off getting it pre-programmed.

One advantage the aftermarket modules have over the factory system is a longer maximum runtime. The factory system only runs for 10 minutes, but this one can be set up to 35 minutes. It uses the factory keyfobs, so you do not need new ones. The button pattern can be configured (default is 3 * lock button). I did have a factory remote start (but it is not required), so having this module allows me to choose 10 or 35 minutes of runtime.

One difference between the factory and aftermarket kits is the number of accessories that have power. The factory option just starts the engine and climate control (at max fan speed, as I recall). The aftermarket kit turns on everything that would come on with the key (radio, dash back-lighting, headlights, power windows, etc.) and turns on the climate control to the last setting.

The part you are looking for is Discounted. Have done massive amount of research on this.
Main thing you need is the part number listed and RPO code AP8 (Remote Start Prep Package) funny thing is the car has all the needed part for the auto start to work but it is turned off at the BCM. You can see if you have the code by looking in the glove box or have someone run your vin (PM me)
There is 2 part numbers 22951516 - is the correct one for most to all SSV and PPV. 22970856/19154445 is the wrong one UNLESS you have the power lift gate (was told by couple tech it will not work without the lift gate option on the car from the factory)
The OE part will cost between 190 - 250 dollars for the part not including Shipping/tax. Here is what you get 2 remotes and 2 pieces of paper (see photo) on the paper is a Code (Removed mine). You take all the items to your local dealer they will take the code from the paper call GM they give them another code and punch it in to there GM scan tool and like a light switch you have auto start.

Now for the bad news the part is Discounted. Here is the solution there is 2 ways to go:
1. Ebay/online here is what is bad about this unless the item you bought it still sealed you have no idea if the code was used.
2. Little more tricky you can go to your local dealer and have them A. Try and find the part and ship the part to there location from another dealer (at a up-cost). B. Or if your friends with the local parts counter man or your Service Writer you can ask them to print or write down the dealers and phone numbers where the part is in stock. Word of advice make sure you it is the correct part number easy mix up for some parts counterman.

At the end of all this you have the RPO code you found the part and paid for it and went to your local dealer you still get charged for them "Install" said part usually cost between .25 to 1.0 hours.
