Well got the oil tube hold bracket and wrong part. I have bracket on tube, forgot that part. 65 years old and my memory is like a fart in the wind.
So put tube back in and used the two bolts to hold down the tube. Much better. Torque and thread locker on everything, new oil, started the mother up. Still no oil pressure, had the rear end jacked up, but the good thing is I never got the low oil pressure warning on the pic. Will do the code reader today, basic tool just shows code that’s it. Clean up shop and wait till Friday for real code reader that will stop by and help. I think I’m good. He has the threaded pressure gauge and we’ll see. It has new sending unit prob go back to old one or separate gauge altogether. Cheers

Well... after dropping axle , fixing intake for oil and starting it up with no warning on pic about low oil pressure the gauge was not working. Called scan guy he came over today and said I hope I didn’t leave the sensor unplugged.

Yep, unplugged. Oil pressure would go up on throttle and now around forty lbs. . Happy man. Seems to run a little off, won’t idle. But it should relearn at least a little don’t you think? I read it has to be cycled a few times to shake the bugs out, we’ll see. Will take to tuner to finish the job. Sounds pretty good, I need a better air cleaner this one seems a little to open for me. Thanks everyone for advice and encouragement.

That my friend is a fairly healthy upgrade. You may have to flat out get it tuned to idle and drive. But, you could try just feathering the throttle enough to keep it running till it gets warm. Then it SHOULD go into closed loop and learn a little. But, most likely it will need a tune. On the plus side with that cam and headers it should make significantly more power.

Went for little spin, hard to keep running, but all in all in was moving and you could tell it was being held back. Got back to garage and upper trans cooler line to radiator backed out and puked all over my floor. 3 bags of kitty litter , good to go. Trying to get into touch with local tuner, feel good.

Well Richard Holdener dynoed a 5.3 with the summit 8720 which i will post the specs for, but it is virtually identical to yours valve timing wise at .050 lift. BUT with more lift. He saw about 60 hp increase, so i would wager a guess that you MAY see around 40 to 45 increase since you are still running full exhaust and he just tested with headers.

I do have headers and magnaflow cat back. The only stock part is the y pipe, I figured I could use the 02 sensors to help with the fuel injection, tuning that sort of thing. I was expecting more gains but in the long run I am fine with removing some of the drawbacks from stock and let those ponies run. I think I might go with black bear, I like the idea of mailing, there’s no way I can drive a distance to get it tuned.

Got a hold of Black Bear and will ship off computer this week, just seems easier to avoid crank re-learn. Sounds good to me.
