So I still need to find heads and decide on those.. I was planning to go with the FAST, largely due to the TB size difference. IIRC, the TBSS / NNBS, is 92 rather than 87. I figure a 102 would help use up the duty cycles of my e85 injectors. [emoji16]
I’m also wondering if porting the heads in an N/A motor is really that helpful, or if the additional flow would be better suited to a forced induction application. I’m a total noob on this stuff.

Imo, the fast can hurt power. You will never utilize the volume. Ported heads definitely help. It will help power, torque, and fuel mileage.

I agree with Pwtr, Fast intake and any TB bigger than a 90/92 is a waste because it will hurt low end which is more important in a truck that keeps the rpm below 6500. For example a buddy makes well into 1,200hp with a standard ls2 90mm TB, his 102 and 105 had tuning issues. I think @randeez even runs a 90mm LS2.

Ported heads/good heads on the other hand are always good within reason. No point in getting PRC 260cc heads for a 5.3 but a set of worked 862s/243s or a nice after market head like a PRC 220 would help both NA and boosted. Most important thing is get a head that compliments the cam.

Best place I've found to learn this stuff for free is Richard Holdner on youtube. Even if you just skip to the parts that it shows dyno graph comparisons.

When I bought my first set of heads PRC220s that I have on the 6.1 that's going in my rcsb eventually. I waited till black Friday and got a dang good deal, under 2k and loaded if I remember right.

When I read that I read “Richard Holder” and I laughed

and no problem. People spend money on things simply because its marketed as better (bigger must mean better). Build for your platform and maximize potential.

Sweet!! Could I use those on my 5.3...?

Oh yeah they are a great all around head, they pulled awesome up top on the 6.0 with the blower and being an after market casting theres no worry about anything really. Can't wait to put them to use again. Texas speed has awesome head/cam packages on black Friday as well. I'd get the whole pack at the same time if it was me.

The Escalade/sss engine covers are by far the most attractive. I like the nnbs for the simple fact that it looks more modern than the regular nbs.
I hate the one on my 08 Silverado, the big open area on the passenger side where the OEM intake tube went into looks stupid once you go to an aftermarket CAI which mine has to have due to no room because wheel tubs.

Edit: sorry for all the posts, just getting caught up on some threads after finally getting email notifications again after a couple weeks. Don’t understand why they keep stopping. Stupid site.
