I just went ahead and ordered the AS2708 remans and will give them a go.
they made a design change a good while back on the 2708's I think the old design is where the negative reviews stemmed from. I have had the 2708's on for 50,000 miles now with no problems
the new design is partially re-manufactured the whole top piece is different, the "bag" will wear out eventually that is the weak point oem or not, replacements won't cost me anything.

* you may want to order or get a air line set, I did find that the drivers side line will be stretched beyond it's length if the shock is fully extended, my solution was to install one of the longer pieces on the drivers side between the shock and "T" where the lines connect near the pump this gives it more than plenty of room, passenger side is not a problem.

and do not order the Dorman air line set I couldn't get the lines to come apart even though it looked like they should come apart it appeared to be a one piece design.

Thanks! Got a pic of that shock and line placement? I have quite a bit of extra line on both sides. Did they move the connector? What line kit did you get?

I bought the oem kit 88987900, a lot of places are charging stupid money for it, it's $26 from rockauto
that kit says it is for the nbs, it doesn't matter gm has used the same connector since they started using air shocks back in the 70's
there is one slightly longer line in the kit that works perfect.

Thanks for that pn. When I’ve looked on RA for a hose kit for my 02 Denali, all it shows is Dorman and a Monroe kit that looks like junk. I just ordered the OEM one. It will be nice to put new lines on.

the kit will look just like the pictured Dorman, but it comes apart the Dorman one did not come apart for me anyway and I just wanted to use the one line that had a couple extra inches.

I got shipping info for mine just now, delivery says 6 days from now. Maybe because you live in the frigid part of the country?
