I picked up an e-fan and harness yesterday but the harness confuses me and idk if I should get a new one from Nelson or ls1fans.

I've attached pics of the harness and the plug ins. It uses a temp probe in the radiator to turn on and off. He used it on an 04 Hummer so I figured it would work on mine but I have only seen the harnesses that plug into the ecm and have to be tuned.

Y'all think i should get a new harness? b98858e9be9c8e194958a94a644986c2.jpg

Yes I would just by looking at the condition of the harness. It looks kind of burnt or has suffered extreme heat damage while this problem has been happening.

Sorry to steal your thread, but I'm making a lot of topics and just when I was about to make one, I saw this thread about e-fans. I've a question for you guys:

I'm running a smaller Nissens radiator sine mine died. Only when began installing I found out it is the smaller one and not the HD radiator that is pretty stock. Now I'm really poor or resourses here in the EU, so I looked at RockAuto because they sell new e-fans also. And then I looked at the Corvette e-fan since they fit the smaller radiators. Does anyone have more info about this? I was looking at this e-fan: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=1407685&cc=1368356&jsn=654 from a Corvette, I think I won't be able to find a second hand much cheaper, if ever one will appear in the EU.... Running a 34,50inch radiator, fits directly in the factory holes, you have one for the OEM version or one smaller for the Avalanche/Silverado/Tahoe which I found new for a very good price... So I'm thinking about new e-fans, what you guys reckon? And what about the wiring harsnass then?

Good luck with the Nelson. I melted a couple aftermarket harnesses before buying an OEM one from a member here. No problems since. It’s the only correct design.
They're that bad? [emoji51][emoji51]

Lots of them have melted-Nelson’s, LS1fans, etc. It usually happens when it’s real hot outside and the ac has been running for a long time. Mine was an LS1fans and I actually rebuilt it with heavier wire and relays after it completely melted the relay block. The second time it melted everything again I was 100 miles from home and it was 100* outside. Luckily I had AAA Plus and got a free tow home, I couldn’t drive it without a fan in that heat. There was a member here who bought the OEM harnesses from junkyards and cleaned them up for resale (@ScottyBoy) but I don’t see him on here anymore.I’m not sure exactly what the factory does that the aftermarket ones don’t but my harness doesn’t even get too hot anymore. I wouldn’t take the chance if I was you.

If the fans fit that radiator you should be fine. Worst case is if the plugs don’t fit the fans, you could buy the plugs for the Corvette fans and wire them onto the Tahoe harness. Try to find a used OEM harness so you don’t have issues with an aftermarket one melting like I mentioned. You might be ok with the Corvette fans though, maybe they draw less current.

Well I'm more afraid of the fitting the e-fan then the plug of the harnass, can always use other plugs...

Is there also a upgrade possible for the mech fan? A lighter one for example?
