@PNW VietVet kind of has a point since the EVAP system in GM vehicles is crap. Other than my wife's 07 Escalade back in the day, I don't think I can remember having a single one longer term that didn't throw EVAP codes at some point. Never replaced the whole system on any of them, but definitely came close to it on her 07 Tahoe. Luckily none of the stuff is too expensive, really. EVAP codes are such a PITA.

As far as the part you are asking, it probably would help if you had a picture of the said 90 degree angle.

I gave him pics, see the links, to pick from. I said it was his choice no matter what I recommend. He wanted a part number and insight. I gave my opinion. I qualified my opinion based off of all the posts I see here about the evap systems. Just because he doesn't like my opinion, he chose to spout off about my choices being "dumb". Not gonna deal with him. Forums are for talking and not for accusations. Have a great day!

Help is not telling someone to replace an entire system. What I want to hear is trouble shooting methods. A way to test individual parts. Throwing parts at something is just dumb.

Yes they are two different things. But anyone with common sense wouldn't replace the entire system because of one faulty part.

He was giving you recommended advice. Not liking the answer is not a reason to be rude.

So before this started happening did you use a fuel pump that did not shut off and it spit fuel back out the filler neck? Did you try to fill up or top off and let the pump kick off more than 3 times?

Sometimes, when someone joins only because they have a problem that is frustrating them, if you don't tell them what they want to hear, then more frustration sets in. I get it and that is why I did say, "your call of course". My recommendation was only because I see so many evap problems here that end up replacing most if not all components to fix them. I would not like it either but it is what it is. I also see where diagnostics point to one thing in the evap system and the problem ends up being something else totally different in the evap system. It's all good.

Its the same way when people have someone pull codes and do not understanding just replacing a part may very well not fix the issue that the codes are just a reference to the system in trouble. And ive found the reason why most end up having to replace all or most of it is they overfill at some point or more than 1 time and fuel ends up in the evap system and ruins it all. Or at least thats what ive seen many times. We will see if he replies further or not.

Yea, I used to be a "fill the gas all the way up" kind of guy and then, when I was running shops, I would see evap system problems on vehicles. Now I just fill till the pump handle shuts off and maybe round to the nearest $.50 or $1.00. That's it. We shall see what he decides to do, if he ever posts back at this thread but I will not respond to him. Not worth the hassle.

I'm late to the party, but wanted to chime in. I ended up replacing purge valve, gas cap and vent valve assembly, in that order. Each time it would throw a different code once I replaced the previous part, but the updated vent valve assembly ended up being the fix. Next in line was going to be the canister. That said, this is one of those times I would actually pay to have a reputable shop smoke the system, if the code is a leak. In hindsight, I would have saved some dollars and frustration, even if doing the work myself, to have a shop diagnose it. All do respect though to those of you who have a lot more knowledge than me. I am more of a curious novice trying to learn, and I have learned a lot from all of you, so THANK YOU!
