On the '03-'06 GMT800s I know that the existing BCM can be updated for programming. But can a used BCM be flashed to a different truck, or would a replacement BCM need to be new?

Ok, I know that one can buy a reman that needs to be programmed, I just didn't know if a junkyard one would be a candidate.

I don't know what a BCM at a junkyard would cost, but you can buy one at Rock Auto for under $200, including shipping. So, the price at the junkyard would have to be low enough to justify your personal time to go to and from the junkyard, as well as the additional risk associated with buying a used part with an unknown functioning status.

Agreed, but I'm just fishing right now. UPull wants between $16 and $25, so I might see if there are any potential targets next time I go. Might just play with the Tech 2 on one for fun.
