Ok, so it looks like I will be selling my 2005 Tahoe Z71 and as of today it looks like I am buying a 2018 2500HD long bed crewcab with Duramax/Allison combo with 24,500 miles. Any thoughts to share? When I can I will post pics of it.

I already live at and run a self storage facility but was offered a chance to pull trailers and deliver them for a local group of motorhome dealers, on a part time basis. I used to own a 2003 2500HD Duramax/Allison combo truck that I really really liked and I have talked about it here a few times.

I already have an offer for my 2005 Tahoe for $10k but hell, I may just keep them both. Who knows. I found during my search that it APPEARS-because not 100% sure, that GM as of 2020 started using their own transmissions behind the Duramax engine and 2019 was the last year for the Allison back there. I am still researching about that because I only heard it one time.

This new rig to me will have the 6 speed Allison trans. The newer ones are 10 speed. If anyone knows for sure about the trans info, please let me know.

Some members here will be glad to see me be less active here but I don't care about that.

No, I am a full time employee at the storage facility. I work 9-6 Tuesday thru Friday and 9-5 on Saturday. I get well paid and all my rent and utilities are free and live in a very upscale neighborhood. I also get my full social security. I actually do very well for myself and I don't have a significant other reaching in to my pockets for money and I am not a heavy drinker and do no drugs. I love to eat and eat out is fun for me. The American Legion post is a great place to get home cooked meals as well.

The part time trailer pulling would be just on a Sunday or Monday and is not set in stone for every 2 days I have off. I can turn the run down if I want because they have a list of guys like myself that they can choose from. Mainly just to keep me busy when I am not doing something else. I can even use my truck or their trucks.

The Duramax/Allison combo is killer. I drove one--older then a 2018--pulling a 53' foot trailer across the country and that baby took it like a champ! Great combo.20200516_150130.jpg Screenshot_20200505-104637_Photos.jpg

Well, you know the old saying, "It ain't over till the fat lady sings". The guy I was dealing with just called and said that his manager pulled the plug on the deal because another buyer came in with all cash and truck was sold to him thru an online sale. I had not given a deposit on this truck because I just found out about it this morning and saw the pics supplied by the guy I was dealing with. He warned me that rarely does this happen on a truck that hit their lot 2 days ago and felt confident the truck would be there when I got off work today at 5 and drove 20 minutes to get there. Fate has dealt me a bad hand on this one. The search continues and the guy I was dealing with is searching for me as well. I think, no-I know, that from now on I am not gonna post anything like this till I actually do the deal. This is crap but there is nothing I can do.

I am gonna go buy a bottle of Jim Beam and get shit faced and eat tacos.

The very low mileage 2018 2500HD with Duramax sounded nice. When you find another one just post it in the Other Vehicles section.
