I have 3 sets of wheels and tires that I’d like to sell. I live in a smaller city, so I doubt I could find anybody around here. In which case I’ll probably have to ship them. Anyone sell wheels or tires that had to be shipped? How do you package them up? How do you receive payment? Do you get the $$ first and THEN ship them? Do you split the shipping cost with the buyer?

Any advice on how to sell these would be greatly appreciated!

A FOOL AND HIS MONEY ARE SOON PARTED
that being said receive payment first before doing anything
to be honest wheels and tires are very SLOW to sell unless you have something really desirable.
if they are just run of the mill you might be sitting on them for a long time, perhaps even years
shipping can be very costly so you are better off perhaps meeting within xx amount of miles from your location.

That's also if the cash price is worth it to you.

You never know who in your area may be interested. Might as well get them posted on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, or other sites and see what happens. Might even post them up here and see as well. Doesn't cost anything and you just might find a buyer that is close by.

Up here to the right
I bought a set of wheels and tires on ebay 15-20 years ago. Brand new takeoffs, guy basically cut a round piece of cardboard to cover the lip of the rim and p-tyed the cardboard across the tire in a crisscross and shipped them ups, they showed up undamaged and in perfect condition. that said, get a price from ups.. their website is pretty good for that, set a price with shipping and without but build a little bit of shipping cost into your price. Definitely get your money first...

Shippers/people gave a shit 15-20 years ago. Nowadays, the shipper would play Punch-A-Bunch with their forklift if wheels and tires were packaged up like so.

Sell as buyers pays shipping, period. Do you have a PayPal account? If so, you can print UPS shipping label online. You won’t make any $ if you ship with the tires on, it’s too heavy & too expensive.

You can find boxes at shops that sell aftermarket rims. Due to Covid it’s preferred and beneficial to call UPS for a pick up. You’ll bypass the counter so nothing is weighed and it goes right to the truck. Be careful you don’t underestimate your shipping weight [emoji6]
