Fuel pump?

so i have a 2000 tahoe an when im taking it spits and studders to about 40mph or if im a a red light or in drive thru it will be idling fine then it will all of a sudden start spitting and studdering then die so i bought a fuel pressure tester and it says that with key on engine off it has 20psi same when it starts my ? is will the truck even run at 20psi or di u think that i have a bad fuel presser tester

When’s the last time you changed to fuel filter? How long has this been going on? Did it start suddenly or did it ease into this level of issues?

You can get another pressure gauge but the fact that the truck is running as you describe, I’d say it’s probably right on.

replaced fuel filter bout a month ago and fuel pump 2yrs ago delphi is what pump i put in it

Might check your fuel pressure regulator.

Does sound fuel pressure related like @wjburken said. 20 psi is not enough for idle or running or even KOEO. That regulator may well be the source and would be the least expensive as an attempt to fix.

Turns out to have choice of 2 designs if is the 5.3 engine, you did not give engine size.
