yowza I thought my ~17 at hot idle was low. I would also get a reader of some sort. Perhaps just a cheapo bluetooth one from amazon, but see what the oil pressure truly is. Does that motor suffer the oil pressure sensor screen clog issue?
Yes it does. When I had low oil pressure in my 2012, it turned out to be the screen.
For the original poster, I'd replace the oil sender and the filter screen below it before you go to the trouble of pulling the camshaft. It's super common for those things to clog up over time and drop your pressure readings artificially. My gauge looked and behaved just like you're describing, and eventually dipped low enough to trigger the low oil pressure warning.

Yeah I was curious, because I scoured the interwebz trying to find a replacement sender and screen on my LY6....but I guess the iron blocks didnt do a screen. Who knew?

Iron blocks got it. My LMG is an iron block.
I think it was just on AFM engines. Your LY6 doesn't have AFM.

40psi idle 50-60psi highway/normal driving under 3500rpm and 96psi wide open. But I have a hi volume/high pressure pump. My coworker has stock 10 Tahoe hes at 20psi idle 40-45psi on highway/normal drive and 60psi wide open.
