As I approach 80k miles I wanted to do a SeaFoam treatment. I treated the gas tank so I am looking to spray a can into the vacuum line.

I just pulled the line, and unlike older models this seems to have a sensor attached. Do I need to disconnect this soas not to harm anything or am I good to just spray into the line?

Also the condition of the grommet doesn’t seem great and there seems to be some oil there. Any input on concern related the the brake booster recall?

I have always felt that putting sea foam into the intake through the vacuum line was rather useless because the flow of air is going to only let it get to the back cylinders. If you want to use Sea Foam, I would suggest getting the aerosol can with the u-shaped spray straw and put it in at the throttle body. That way the stuff has a better chance of getting to all 8 cylinders.

I had not considered this. I actually have a spray can with the straw, but I figured I might try vacuum after a first attempt in the TB yielded nothing more than a giant friggin mess.

pull the crankcase breather tube from the intake tube and spray it through there.

that way you can aim the spray flow directly at the tb instead of letting the intake draw it through the end of the hose however it wants.

yes dont spray it through the maf you could ruin that. with the bent tube put it through that hole facing the tb and blast away
Ok in doing some research I believe that is the “clean side” of the crankcase so I didn’t know if it would make a huge difference.

Thanks a lot for your help by the way

Well.... disconnected the line on the drivers side. Sprayed the whole can in and let it sit for about 12 minutes. No smoke.

Drove it pretty hard for about 10-15 minutes and it ‘s definitely more responsive I just didn’t get the satisfaction from a giant cloud of carbon.

I have contacted a local company about installing an STS turbo but there are some internals I would like to upgrade before doing so.

only 80k and a properly maintained engine a giant cloud of smoke isnt really going to happen. ive done vehicles 130k up to 260k with seafoam as i do believe to does have a positive effect usually. some people seem to think its a miracle cure but it does generally seem to have positive effects. ive gotten a bigger plume from a 130k and less out of a 260k.
