When I am driving at higher speeds the glass part of my driver's side outside mirror shakes. I have checked the difference from side to side and the glass is definitely looser. I saw how I can pry the painted cap off the mirror but is there also a way deeper in there to check and hopefully fix the glass looseness?

This should be similar if not the same to what you have:

Here's another one:

I just Googled "tahoe mirror glass".

That will get you into the mirror at least, so you can see what is going on.

Good luck!

I see where I can just buy the assembly and swap the painted cap or just do the mirror. What I am worried about is that there may be a broken clip capture tab that stays in the housing when you pry out the mirror assembly and then I have a mirror that I need to return and then buy the assembly. It does not look good for removing the old mirror and then having a chance to reinstall if the mirror part is still good.

Gonna do some thinking on this and may just get both from Amazon so the return is easier.

I don't know how much that assembly would cost, but you might just want to watch FB Market place and/or Craigslist (or similar) for a part out. Get a whole assembly from that.

Not sure if 06 and 07 are the same type of mechanism but mine was 2 ball and sockets holding the mirror in. It was hard to get myself to push hard enough to pop it back in. I ended up getting a new mirror and changing the cap, as you mentioned.

@S33k3r, I messaged him. Thanks. I may be interested in the radio/cd player and the dash heater/a/c controller. That isn't a bad price for the whole thing though.
