I tried the Nano with a laptop but it would not talk to the cpu of either my 2005 Tahoe nor my 2005 Denali so I sent it back and ordered a clone tech 2 as well. Should be here Thursday, it was -$50 to be sent from China but ended up shipping from Cali anyways.

Spent more time today tinkering with my Tech 2

learned it looks like i have a product line "K"

played around with the options, and read various different codes.
Got some like "unable to connect to radio", but i also have an aftermarket radio installed.
Cleared it and it has not yet come back.

Played around in the ABS section, started an automated bleed w/o having any of the bleed screws open.. haha

found out i have an issue with my lift gate!
shows some "hall sensor" has a short to ground when closing the lift gate.
fails diagnostics with a code.
clear and it will come back when i open and close the gate again.

I have yet to find out wtf a "hall sensor" is, but i do have an aftermarket back up camera installed.
And the installer pulled power from something in the rear gate...
I have a strong feeling the short to ground is related.
Hack installers :chair:

bottom of my "give a *****" list since the gate works for now.

super cool tool, even played around with the mirror controls for a bit.

Totally worth the $$$ spent.

ya it will pick up any grounds that have been added off of different modules, I have added several to mine and it see's them all, no big deal gm likes to keep it a isolated system by running all grounds thru the the harness so that when they need to troubleshoot a problem then "a short to ground" could indicative of a frayed wire, etc, a extra ground won't hurt anything and you are already aware of what has happened anyway.

Hall sensor's measure distance, they are small components used in all types of things that move "electrically". ie, ac blend doors, auto closing doors. techie's will explain it better.

Totally worth the $$$ spent.

Neat, i actually had an issue with my lift gate.
It will do some popping at the top of the travel when opening.
I had found that the rear lift struts had been replaced with some aftermarket units.
They were not quite right and i figured they were binding a bit.
I replaced with some OEM struts, and things seem to work much better.
but the popping is still there.

I have to wonder if it just can't do the "learn" due to the "short to ground"

I'll try removing/disconnecting the backup camera to see if it clears the error.

You do not NEED the CDs. You need the PCMCIA card to communicate with a vehicle. It's supposed to go into the slot closest to the screen.

@swathdiver
The card shown below is on the lower slot, do I need to move it to the upper slot?

The software is on the PCMCIA card which might come separate or might already be installed in its slot. The CDs are pretty much worthless but I believe one of them has explanations on basic setup like inserting the PCMCIA card and such. You can Google it though.

@Rocket Man
Is this the PCMCIA card?

To answer the question posed to Mark, yes, that is the PCMCIA card and it goes in the slot closest to the screen. The instructions mention this but I also know because I moved mine to the other slot for convenience and it works fine with CanBus systems like the GMT-900 but the Tech-2 would not talk to my Pontiac Montana or some fellow members' GMT800s until I moved it back to the other slot. I believe that is because the 800s and the like communicate through the VCI Module and think mine has plumb wore out and only acts as a pass-thru now.

Got it, I will move it over and keep tinkering with it. Thx @swathdiver

Just thought I would post this here...

https://www.chinacardiags.com/whole...or-gm-saab-opel-suzuki-isuzu-holden-1011.html

They have the Tech 2 with a case and all accessories for $289 with "Free" shipping.

They also have the Tech 2 with all the accessories but without a case for $215 BUT they charge $68 for shipping.

I opted to pay the extra $6 and get the case and the "Free" shipping.

Waiting to see how long it takes to receive it.

Anyway, I thought it was a pretty decent deal so I figured I would share.
