on a windy day my 2003 tahoe seems to get moved around alot. is this due to the sway bar or maybe the shocks. it has the autoride suspension and the back shocks are shot so maybe that’s part of the problem

how many miles on your ride?

you need to check all suspension components. look to see how worn out the bushings are.

blown air shocks will make it ride like shit (make the rear sway all over), worn out steering components will give you the herky jerky (front sway) all over the road, like tie rods, pitman arm, etc.

Anything over 100-150k miles needs to have the steering and suspension replaced imo. As in pitman arm, idler arm and bracket, upper and lower ball joints, outer tie rods, sway bar bushings and end links, front and rear shocks. And if you have the auto leveling like you do, the compressor needs to be functioning. All this is normal maintenance so if it hasn’t all been done already you need to do it. Then you should be good for another 100-150k. These big rigs are ******* the steering and suspension parts.

I agree with Rocketman, I had to do ball joints, wheel bearings, tire rods, end links, and shocks were recently replaced when I got it. The only thing that hasn't been touched is the pitman/idler arm because they don't appear to have any play. They just creak like an old wooden staircase.

The point is you probably have multiple things compounding to cause the loose feeling.

Start by either fixing or eliminating the blown air ride. That one is pretty obvious. Then get this thing up on a lift and check all front end components.
