Good morning,
This morning when I got in my truck the radio was on AM and the clock was reset to 12:00. Odd but didn't think to much about it. Stopped at the store to pick up a few things. Started the truck and pulled out of the parking spot but the steering wheel would not turn. If I turned either direction it was like I was hit a hard stop at full rotation. I backed straight back into the spot and turned the vehicle off. I turned it back on and the radio reset, the clock was back at 12:00, my seat memory was all screwed up(auto entry that sets the seat and steering wheel), and the climate control was not on auto. The steering started working again but feels a little stiffer in parking lots. Any ideas? I don't want to be driving with my family and have this happen and get in a wreck. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like a combination of two problems. Likely a battery connection problem related to the radio/clock. How old is battery and are the connections clean and tight.

I am not sure at all but is there an electrical component to the power steering? I am more old school where there is none and it would be related to fluid, condition of and level of. Kinked line? Power steering pump pressure problem.

Did both of these problems start at the same time?

In 2017 my Z06 at 26 miles went into steering failure at 70 mph in the middle of a turn, let me tell you that will wake you up, I hit nothing and the car was towed back to the dealer, turned out to be an electrical connection to the Bosch steering rack, there were at 26 cars that had an issue. Get it to the dealership before something bad happens

steering is electric in '15-'20's

sounds like same/similar issue w/ the SS sedan, trucks & other vehicles in GM lineup w/ the steering.
some loose steering while driving. have to glide it to shoulder, turn off ignition, get out of car, close door. then get back in & restart it to see if it will reset to normal.
