I was having problems with my barn doors not staying open... so i just squeezed the part that holds it open and now it doesn't swing closed by itself anymore...

So Ive been thinking of the barn door swap, has anyone got pictures?

I found this topic in a search, sorry to raise it from the dead.

Ive also considered something involving the multipro tailgate or the stuff from the envoy xuv.

My personal objective is to eliminate stuff mounting to the top, both for a passthrough into a clamshell RTT, and because where the current hatch mounts is where I want to fit a slide out camp shower.

This is an overland buildout obviously lol

I also want to rear door mount my spare tire and a door mount off an isuzu trooper is easier to work out than a swing out spare carrier from a rodeo lol.

Will the barndoor hinges hold a spare oem 17" with a 37" tire on it?

Im obviously spitballing here so feel free to throw out the typical hate.

I can weld and Im a surgeon with an angle grinder lol.

Im a fan of well finished suv chops and its not out of my realm of insanity to turn this thing into a "k2 avalanch" and fit a damn camper camper back there lol. Im planning on a small trailer like almost teardrop small with a lift and matching tires to run a kitchen in, like an offroad taco trailer, that if Im conscientious designing, could be food service certified and used to sling huevos con lysteria burritos on jobsites lol...

Imagine being a super with an overland camper and your own montazuma wagon!

Gc pays lodging (i live in cali) you pocket lodging, live in your own yard next to the job trailer, and flip the lodging money dragging fastfood and selling mexican breakfast shit...

I absolutely love the hatch. I ski a lot and it is perfect for sitting on when you are putting on your ski boots, hanging out in the parking lot listening to some Grateful Dead. Wouldn't trade it for barn doors for anything.
